"Sidney Prescott, who escaped a vicious attack last night, is the daughter of Maureen Prescott, who was brutally killed last year when convicted murderer Cotton Weary broke into their home and savagely raped and tortured the deceased."
Everyone was tense the next morning. And the news talking about Sidney's dead mother certainly wasn't helping.
"Cotton Weary is currently waiting appeal for the death sentence handed down after young Sidney testified against him. She was the key witness in the state's case against the-"
The reporters voice cut off and the screen turned black as Molly swiped up the remote and irritably clicked the television off so they could eat in peace.
As Dewey sat down at the table with the three girls, Sidney scoffed. "Its never gonna stop, is it?"
Dewey sighed silently. "Billy was released." Almost immediately, Molly was relieved, but she couldn't help but notice how Sidney seemed to tense. "His cellular bill was clean. He didn't make those calls. We're checkin' every cellular account in the county. Any calls made to Sid, Molly, or Casey Becker are being cross-referenced." The two girls were hardly comforted by that. "Its gonna take some time, but we'll find him."
Molly looked down at her half empty plate then. She just wanted to get the school day done and over with.
"Oh, and uh...Happy Birthday, Molly."
The girl glanced up at Dewey boredly before staring back down at her plate. "Thanks."
