CLARY'S P.O.V

Alex really was amazing every time she got the ball she would score but the problem was so would this other girl and well she had scored more than Alex had and the game was reaching its final minutes. Alex's team had the ball she called for the ball it was a straight pass nothing in the way her teams passed the ball but out of nowhere that girl intercepted the ball mid-pass and took it down the court. Alex's team did what they could but the girl was better than them and scored another point just as the last second ended and won the game as they cheered I saw that Alex was almost distraught. I ran after her as she entered the changing rooms I waited for her outside it would give me some time to think about what to say because I hate it when people ask if someone is okay when they clearly aren't.

"Hey that was incredible I can see why you wanted to join the basketball team," I said as she came out.

"Agreed," Said Jacob as he appeared.

"Whoa, where have you been hiding these last few days," I asked.

"Around," He said.

"Around here or around your house," I said.

"Why would I be at my house," Jacob said.

"Liz texted me saying she is sick... and that you were taking care of her," I said.

"Who is Liz," Alex asked.

"His little sister who he is a little too overprotective of," I said.

"It's called being an older brother," Jacob said.

"An obsessive older brother," I said.

"Whatever so who's this?" Jacob asked looking at Alex.

"This is Alex the newest member of our friend group," I said placing a hand on either side of her shoulders.

"Well then in that case nice to meet ya," Jacob said winking at her.

"Same here anyway I should get going need to lick my wounded pride," Alex said.

"What are you talking about you were unbelievable out there," I said.

"Your friends right," Said the girl as she came out looking stunning.

"Sorry," Alex said.

"Names Becca and I have been playing for a long time but you, you were tough to beat where did you learn to play," Becca said.

"Well I went to Hill Cave school before here and they had a pretty good team so there I guess," Alex said.

"Well they certainly trained you up well we should practice together sometime," Becca said.

"Sure," Alex said.

"Well see ya," Becca said as she left.

"Hey come over to mine next week I'm throwing a party," Jacob said.

"Okay," I said and Alex nodded and he waved to us before leaving.

"Look I can tell that you don't like Becca but you could not ask for a better practice partner," I said.

"I don't want a practice partner I want a rival" Alex practically yelled at me before running off and leaving me alone.

I went home hoping that I didn't just piss Alex off I mean if I was to end up fully dating someone it may turn out to be her she is beautiful and sometimes I can't get her out of my head. I have been in love before but what I'm feeling now is so much more something about her stops me from seeing her as just a friend and the worst part is she will never feel the same. I got home and Jackie gave me a hug it is what she did to show that she was going to do what she could to be the mother I deserved since my real one saw me as filth because of my sexuality.

"Your home later than usual," Jackie said.

"A friend of mine had basketball tryouts so I went to watch," I said.

"They any good" Jackie asked.

"Oh she'll make varsity no question," I said.

"Sounds good," Jackie said.

"And whatever is in the kitchen smells just as good," I said knowing what she was cooking.

"20 minutes," Jackie said and I smiled.

"Oh Jacob has a party next week and I know the rule unless I stay the night back by 12:00 midnight," I said smiling before heading up to my room.

I sat at my desk and opened up my laptop as soon as I pulled up crome I got a Facebook ping so I opened it up and I was simply a few words "Found you ;D" I looked at who it was from and it was Alex looks like her last name is Mila. I replied to her asking if she was doing okay and she said she would live but understood why I was asking after her small outburst about wanting a rival. The two of us talked until Jackie called me down for my dinner I told Alex and she said to talk later but she did thank me for asking whether she was okay I may not like being asked but she does. I ran downstairs and took a seat at the table just as Melvin came home and sat down looking like had just run a marathon he looked drained of energy and brain cells.

"Hard day dad," I said looking at him.

"You don't know the half of it," Melvin said as Jackie placed a plate each in for of us.

"Thanks," I said as I grabbed my knife and fork.

"Yes thank you dear, this looks good," Melvin said.

"Hope you enjoy," Jackie said taking her own seat.

"So how was your day," I ask.

"Well, Jim is now convinced that the office is haunted so now we have been given a stupid deadline before we move offices... again," Melvin said Jim was Melvin's boss he was weird but the good weird always made for a good story.

"How long have you got," I asked taking a bite of my food.

"5 months," Melvin said.

"And what do you have to do in those 5 months," I asked.

"Add 6 more data servers to the database," He said.

"Wait doesn't it take a full month to add just one of those," I asked.

"Like I said it's a stupid deadline," Melvin said.

"In other news how is your club and or support group at school going," Jackie said not knowing what my dad does for work unlike me.

"Oh yes, I was wondering about that myself," Melvin said.

"Well it was good this morning but like I told mum I didn't have it open tonight because of the basketball team a friend of mine went to the tryouts after school.

"And," Melvin said.

"They will make varsity in no time," I said.

"Should be a good year for the team then," My dad said.
