chapter 2 THE BOY FROM A SMALL VILLAGE TO A PRESIDENT

"Mum one day we will be rich."Ogata a young boy from the village of Kalulumba said to his mother.Kalulumba was a small village in the middle of kissi county.Ogota was a boy from the family of Mr yao.A farmer who had many wives.Mr yao the farther to Ogata died when he was two years old.Ogata was raised by his single mother Mrs Nyambu.Mrs nyambu was a hardworking Woman.She did everything to ensure that his son would atleast live a better life.Mrs nyambu ensured Ogata went to school so that he could learn and become a better person.Ogata went to a school near their village.At school ogata worked very hard ,he knew he was the one to save the people of kalulumba,he knew her mother depended on him.Ogata could extend his classes until late in the evening.His teachers loved him and because he was also loved by other students he became the schools president.As a school president he served other students with love loyalty and obedience. While in class eight Ogata did his KCPE and he was the best student in the school with 384 marks.His mother was happy and also sad because She did not where to get some money to take his son to High school and he was supposed to go to a high school called Kitondo school which was the best school in the entire kisii county.

Ogata knew they were poor ,he knew his mother had no money,they had no land that his mother could sell and take him to school.Ogata's mother got sick due to stress and passed on.By that time ogata was 15 years old.Ogata did not know what to do.One day ogata remembered his friend Andrew from the school told him that he was from Nairobi.He told him that Nairobi is the best place ever.When ogata asked where the place was located he told him that he could pay seven hundred shillings from kisii county to reach in nairobi . Ogata parked his clothes in his school bag saying to himself,"I will go to Nairobi and look for a job so that i can get money and go back to school."Ogata started the journey to go to kisii town so that he can get a car to Nairobi.After reaching at the kisii town he bored a car to Nairobi.Ogata had only eight hunred shillings that his mother left for him.He gave the money and he was given back his change which was hundred shillings. Ogata knew alot of mathematics no one could lie to him.They began the journey which was a long journey. Ogata had bananas which he had carried from their home. He ate the bananas as his lunch. After hours they finally reached at Nairobi. Ogata was surprised he had never seen a place so great as Nairobi.He said to himself,"Andrew was write this place is wow."He saw alot of cars and motorbikes he rely loved the place.After alighting from the car ,he was confused because he did not know where to go.That night Ogata slept in the streets with other abandon kids.Ogata was new and did not know anybody.Early the next morning a boy called mwala aproached ogata and asked,"You are new here where are you from?"Ogata answered politely,"I am from kalulumba,a village in kisii county.Mwala asked,"Why did you come to Nairobi?"He answered,"I came to look for money so that i can go back to school.Mwala looked away and laughed.After he finished he said ,"Boy you rely have dreams."Ogata asked,"What is you name?"He answered ,"I am Mwala or you can call me Mwash."Ogata asked,"who brought you here?"Mwala answered ,"I came to Nairobi to look a better life.I was just like you i wanted to get money and go back to school but i lacked.To be honest with you ,it is not easy to get a job here in nairobi ,if you are not hardworking then you will suffer ."Ogata kept quite and looked away.Mwala went saying in kiswahili ,"Ni wakati wa kutafuta chakula. "Meaning'it was time to look for food' The other boys together with Ogata followed Mwala. They all went and stood outside a hotel and started borrowing those people who entered or got out of the hotel.After getting a little money they would go to a shop and buy some food which they would share among themselves .After staying with the boys for a while,Ogata decided to look for a job.The only job available was that of riding a cart.Ogata did the work as long as he got a little money to use.After some time Ogata got used to staying in such environment

Ogata did not stop reading,he ensured every when he goes he has read something.The other boys were surprised with the way ogata lived.They have never seen a boy like him.Ogata then decided to save the little money he got so that he could go back to s chool.Mwala one day came to talk to Ogata but as he was coming he saw ogata counting a lot of money he saw where Ogata had hidden the money and said to himself,"All that money!what is he going to do with it.I will come later to steal it."Mwala went and talked to his two friends Mwamba and Omwami. He said,"Guys today i am surprised .I have seen that new boy with a lot of money and I have seen where he has hidden."Omwami said ,"Let us wait for him to sleep and go to steal."Mwamba was annoyed with the plan he said ,"How can we steal for a person who is just like us ,he is struggling like us.That boy is hardworking he works hard so that he can get that money and then you want to steal from him You should ask him how he gets the money not stealing from him."After a long silence Mwala said ,"Ok we will not steal from him I will ask him where he gets the money."Early that morning Mwala rushed to Ogata and asked ,"My friend where do you get all the money that you have."Ogata asked ,"when did you see my money?"Mwala said yesterday when i came to visit you i saw you with a lot of money."Ogata said "That money, I get from where i work."Mwala asked,"what are you going to do with all that money?"Ogata answered,"I am going to pay for my school fees."Mwala asked ,"Would take me please where you work so that i can also get some money."Ogata said,"Ok i will take you."They went and Ogata introduced mwala to his boss and mwala got a job .Mwala rely apreciated ogata One day as ogata was going to work accompanied by Mwala Ogata was heated by a moving car.The owner of the was a British citizen. The man took ogata to the nearby hospital and promised to pay for the bill.Ogata was rely in a serious condition his left leg was broken .The man rely pitied ogata he knew ogata was an orphan .That evening the man came and said to Ogata,"How are you young man and what's your name?"Ogata answered,"I am ogata."The man said ok i am Clinton and i come from british but i live in Karen Nairobi.If i may ask where are you from Ogata?"Ogata answered ,"I live in the streets in langata but i am from kalulumba a village in kisii county ."Ogata said ,"Mr please help me and take me back to school,i want to learn so that i can help my fellow villagers back in kisii county."The man said,"I will help you and take you back to school."After Ogata was released from the hospital the man took Ogata to his home in Karen.On seeing his big house ogota could not believe what he had seen .He had never seen a mansion like that.Mr Clinton took ogata to school and Ogota worked very hard in his studies,after four years Ogata did his KCSE exams and got a B plus. Ogata went to the University of Nairobi where he did a course in law after eight years he graduated. Ogata always wanted to become a politician so he goined a political party called ORANGE DEMOCRATIC MOVEMENT where he vied for the governorship of kisii county .Luckily ogata won and became the governor of kisii. As a governor Ogata remembered where he came from,he remembered all the villagers of Kalulumba,he build mansions for them.After 5 years ogata formed his own political party called ACTION PARTY and vied for the presidency of Kenya but he did not win instead he became an oposition leader and in the next general election Ogata was the winner and he became the fifth President of the Republic of kenya. As a president Ogata remembered Mwala and all his friends whom they lived together in the sreets.Ogata a young boy from the village of Kalulumba served the people of kenya as their president.
