Nevermore Academy - New England
Y/N and Ajax stood beyond Wednesday and Enid's dorm, trying to squash the anxiety bubbling up inside. Meanwhile, on the other side of the door, Enid paced the floor, making holes in the wood and Wednesday silently watched the door, unconsciously tapping her foot.
The gorgon was garbed in a snowy white outfit to match the dress code of the evening, whilst Y/N wore a black suit and tie. They both held a small box containing a corsage, although Y/N's was slightly different.
"Are they waiting at the dance or are they just late?" Enid frantically spoke, her hands flying about in frustration as she walked around.
"It is not unlike Y/N to keep me waiting," Wednesday deadpanned. "There was once a time where he kept backing away from my ki-... I don't know why I just told you that."
Their worries were quenched by a sharp knock on the door. Enid raced over, Wednesday didn't move, and yanked open the door before flinging herself onto Ajax. Y/N smiled at the two, squeezing passed so he could get to the one he came to see.
The first thing he noticed was the glum look on Wednesday's face, telling him she already hated what she was wearing. And then Y/N saw what she was wearing. A layered black dress that most certainly did not fit the dress code hung from her shoulders, with what little skin shown being covered by loose, meshed fabric. The neck was a darker material that looked like a black version of a polo shirt. Her hair was changed from the usual twin braid and had the pigtails wrapped over the top of her head, keeping the fringe Y/N knew she loved.
"Wow..." Y/N was lost for words. "You look..."
"Unrecognisable? Ridiculous?" Wednesday blurted out before he could finish. "A classic example of female objectification for the male gaze?"
"Beautiful. Gorgeous. And any other synonyms you can find in a thesaurus. You look amazing."
"I guess you look good too," she admitted, placing a delicate hand on Y/N's face.
"I didn't want you to feel left out, so I wore this, uh... I-I got you something," Y/N quickly brought out the box and held it out for Wednesday.
She carefully took the gift, eyeing it curiously. Her soft hands undid the ribbon and let it drop to the floor as Y/N waited with bated breath, hoping she liked it. The lid was finally removed to reveal Thing holding the head of a black dahlia attached to a small string.
"Do you like it?" Y/N couldn't wait any longer. "Enid told me that it was yo-"
"My favourite unsolved murder," she mumbled as Y/N finished with the same words.
"Would you like me to put it on for you?"
Wednesday let her eyes travel from the flower and Thing to Y/N's eyes, softly nodding her head yes. He took the corsage from the box and slid the rope around Wednesday's forearm, all the while she couldn't take her eyes off him.
Once Y/N had finished, he stepped back slightly to admire his girlfriend, taking in her beauty. However, Wednesday didn't let him get far before she hooked her arms around his neck and attacked his lips with her own. Thing sat in the box still, pretending to look away from the act.
Y/N's hands found their way to Wednesday's waist, pulling her body closer to his. Once they had ran out of air, Y/N switched to sucking on her neck, leaving more and more marks the further down he went.
"The dance," Wednesday stopped.
"It can wait a little longer," Y/N couldn't care less about the dance right now.
