It was official. It was spring time, and Evangeline's birthday was coming up. Niklaus and Hayley were planning a perfect birthday party. Their little bundle of joy was walking around and already speaking her mind. Niklaus was in his office working and looked out the window to see Hayley and Evangeline having a small picnic.
"Do you mind if I join you," he asked as he approached his two girls. Hayley turned to him and smiled, shaking her head, Evangeline tried standing so she could go over to her father. "Dad," she called. "That's right sweetheart," he whispered sitting down.
"Now, what are my two favorite people doing today," Niklaus asks. "Just hanging out," Hayley says. "We are going to have a picnic just for mother and daughter time," Hayley says looking at her husband. Niklaus glared at his wife playfully and she pushed him over onto the blanket. "Go get your dad," Hayley says to Evangeline. Evangeline climbs over Hayley and jumps onto her dad.

Niklaus went into Evangeline's nursery and watched over his sleeping little princess. He could not believe that she was already a year old. She shifts around in her crib and begins to wake up, Niklaus smiles at his daughter. She props herself and tries standing after realizing that her dad is standing there but is picked up by him. "Hello, my little Princess," he whispers. "You are one year old today," he tells her. "Ah," Evangeline says, holding up her hand. Niklaus puts down her fingers until only one is up. "One," he says. "One," Evangeline repeats and Niklaus nods.
Rebekah picked a pink dress out for Evangeline to wear to her birthday party. "Oh, she looks perfect," Rebekah squeals as Niklaus and Hayley come into the sitting room that the family used. Evageline squeals at the attention she is receiving from the family. Kol laughs at his niece who holds up her arms to be held by her Uncle. Niklaus hands Evangeline over to her Uncle, because he cannot say no to her.

Later on the young princess's birthday, people from all over England were invited to the party. Niklaus was holding Evangeline when a young girl came up to the King and Queen with her parents. She curtsies and holds a flower up to Hayley, "Do you remember me?" the little girl asks. "Of course," Hayley says, kneeling down to her height. Niklaus joins his wife, kneeling to the young girl's height.
"This is Evangeline," Niklaus introduces the young girl. "Hello," the young girl says. "My name is Penelope," she says. "Ah," Eva exclaims. Penelope holds out the flower for the young princess who leans forward in her father's arms and takes the flower in her small hand. "Ah," Evangeline says again. "I picked this for you," Penelope says. "Can you say thank you," Niklaus asks his daughter. "Tank ou," Evangeline says. "Your welcome, Your Highness," Penelope says before her parents steer her away.

After Evangeline's party, Hayley was placing Evangeline in her new crib. The little girl was already asleep but Hayley needed this moment with her daughter. "You have no idea how important you are," she whispers to her daughter. "Not only to the fate of this kingdom but to me and your father," Hayley continues.
