george told everyone he had been ill.

they all believed it.

no questions asked.

"this is why i don't come to homeroom man," quackity complains for the six-hundredth time in ten minutes, "i've never been this bored before."

"literally," schlatt agrees, drumming his fingertips along the desk, "i feel like i'm going to fall asleep."

"imagine what it's like when you guys aren't here," george says, smiling despite the fact his stomach still hurts and his heart still feels like it's got a two-tonne weight hanging on it.

"i don't know why you don't just skip with us," quackity shrugs.

"because you guys always go on walks when you skip," george points out. "i'm way too lazy for that shit," he says.

"that's fair, to be honest," schlatt mumbles in agreement, seeming a little distracted.

"next time we'll smoke in schlatt's car and you can stay with us," quackity suggests.

"no way, josé," schlatt is quick to decline, pointing an accusatory finger at his best friend, "i do not want my car taken off of me."

quackity rolls his eyes light-heartedly. "lame."

"why can't we sit in your car?" george asks quackity, and the ravenette just shushes him.

"do you drive, george?" schlatt asks, his question followed quickly by the school bell, signifying the end of homeroom.

"nah, i've never been bothered to learn," george shrugs as the three boys get up. they're able to head straight out of the room, since they didn't have any equipment that they needed to pack up.

"why not?" quackity wonders.

george thinks, just maybe, that telling them he never learnt because he didn't plan on being alive long enough to need to, isn't entirely appropriate. so, instead, he just says, "it seems like so much effort."

schlatt laughs, nodding, "it is."

"see, this is why george is my spirit animal," quackity says as they work their way through the crowds of students occupying the hallways.

"uhhh, thanks?" george laughs.

"can we go to the toilets real quick?" schlatt asks as they come up to some.

"yeah, i need a piss," quackity nods.

the trio dip out of the crowd and into the toilets.

george looks over, seeing the row of mirrors up on the wall, and says, "i'm going to wait outside."

he doesn't want to see himself.
