She turns off her screen yet again just to check the time two seconds later. Three minutes late. The worst thing about delay is that there is no knowing how much longer one has to wait, especially when the countdown beforehand was already overwhelmed.
Last Christmas she went back home to visit her family because her father was ill. Trips like that should not have been difficult, if not for the pandemic, and the ridiculous travel restrictions that go along with it. But now she wishes she had stayed then, that way, she needn't have endured the infamous lockdown that no one should have to suffer.
Not to say she regrets her choice of coming here, despite the hardship of living abroad, testing out the waters in another language, on the other side of the world.
