i chewed up rocks and spit them out
rough tongue, rotting roots, muddy mouth
asthmatic lungs chalk full of dust
i watched the night sky dim
swam towards the rosy colored lunar eclipse in a sky littered by stars
and grasped at falling moon dust
sunk further and further
the weight of the boulders heavy in my throat
the water hit me like electricity
numb touch in a cold river, goosebumps rising, december coming
i opened my eyes as the steady ripples washed over me
and looking into the reflection above, i saw the night sky gaze sadly upon me, waving and writhing
the rosy colored eclipse turned red
as the stars faded.
