It's been quite boring actually. Just lingering around the village with nothing to do. Al Haitham is busy with something and now you're left here.

A few days ago you asked Candace if there's anything you could do around here. She said that you could help the village by doing small tasks. But all you can do are probably simple house chores.

Fortunately for you though there are some people who needed help cleaning their house. For example an old lady who had a bad back. She needed help cleaning high places like shelves and the top of drawers that she couldn't reach unless she got up a chair. But that's dangerous... So you helped her.

Another thing you did is probably go down the elevator. Get a bucket of water from the river below. Get back up again and give it to a lady that needs to water her roses. You think that they're pretty and it's surprising how the roses stayed alive in this heat.

And sometimes you had to go and find cats. Yep. Catching cats. You received a few scratches on your arms thanks to them. The owners paid you a few extra coins to apologize.

But today... There's literally nothing to do. Nothing at all. Al Haitham is still in the desert doing God knows what and haven't came back since... Days ago??

Traveler occasionally dropped by from exploring the desert and checking up on Al Haitham for you. He told you that Al Haitham is at least eating on time and have a good sleep schedule despite being so engrossed in that secret something he's working on.

Good. Since if he's not doing that you'll probably go through the desert just to nag him about his health. Probably pull his ear like a naughty child who refuses to listen to their parent.

"Watch out"

"Huh-"

You felt someone grabbing the back of your shirt before you could take another step. It's good though since you realized you were about to take a step down the cliff if it weren't for someone stopping you.

You quickly back away from the edge and turn towards your saviour. Candace stood there with a worried expression.

"Are you alright? You should watch where you're going"

"S-sorry.. my mind was somewhere else.. haha.."

You scratched the back of your neck as Candace continue to stare at you worriedly.

"What's wrong? Is something bothering you?"

"It's fine- I'm fine really"

She doesn't look like she believed you but eventually just nods and dismissed it.

"Fine. But you really shouldn't daydream while walking around. You could get seriously hurt"

"Yes Candace.."

"Good. I'll be continuing my patrol"

"Bye"

You watched as she left with her spear and shield. You think that she's a very strong woman and she definitely is. Afterall she is the protector of this village or so you heard.

Anyway what were you thinking about? Ah nevermind. You should just go back to the inn since there's nothing to do.

Another free day... No one needed your help at the moment. Now what are you gonna do?

*Knock Knock*

"It's Paimon and the Traveler!"

"Just come in"

The door opened and Paimon flew in first before Aether followed and closed the door. You smile at the duo as you sat on the bed.

"What's up you two?"

"We're here to give you our reports about Al Haitham!"

"I see"

Aether fidgeted with his fingers. You could sense that he's nervous about something. Paimon began to look nervous too.. what happened?

"... What happened?"

You looked at them with a concerned expression. Did something bad happen to Al Haitham?

"Al Haitham... He's..."

Aether took a deep breath but before he could continue Paimon suddenly shouted.

"He collapsed!"

Your eyes widened. No way.. Al Haitham.. collapsing.. what would be the cause?

Aether sensing your confusion was ready with an answer.

"T-the scholars said it was fatigue.. but we thought he was maintaining a pretty good schedule and all that-"

You suddenly stood up and stared down at the shorter boy.

"Where is he now?"

"W-we sent him to the village chief's house just now-"

"Let's go"

You dragged the two out of your room and immediately went to the direction of the village chief's house. You could see Candace waiting at the front with a concerned expression.

"Ah you managed to get him here.. thank you"

"No problem Candace"

Candace then turns to you and motioned at the door.

"He's inside. You could meet him after the doctor is done checking him up"

You nodded at her and waited silently with the others. You resisted the urge to pick at your nail. It's already short enough from you being bored by yourself you don't need it to bleed from you stressing out.

[A/N: some chapters are gonna be like- low quality and planning and it probably shows but I'm too lazy to improve them because idk- I just wrote the continuation of it already-
