Bonnibel left for LA the next day, she hadn't stuck around for too long after the concert either, she just thanked Marceline and told the band that they were really good before returning home while the band decided to celebrate their successful concert. Ok, Marceline had been critical of Bonnibel in the past but for some reason, she couldn't help but miss her the next day. As Marceline was thinking about all of this as she made coffee Keila ran into the kitchen, phone in hand and a smile that covered half her face.

"Marceline! You absolute beauty of a person!" Keila exclaimed kissing a shocked Marceline in the forehead.

"Woah! Calm down, Keila!" Marceline, who had previously been half asleep was now fully awake.

"You just got us a mother fucking record deal!" Keila shoved her phone onto Marceline's face with an email. "A talent scout from Geffen Records named Billy Prismo was at our concert last night and apparently he had gone to the last few Screaming Vultures shows trying to decide whether to reach out to us but apparently the line-up change convinced him!"

"Are you serious!" Marceline now joined the excitement. "We got a fucking record deal!"

"Not yet," Keila said. "He wants us to record a 4 song demo first and send it to him, no covers. I texted the boys to come over so we can discuss what we are going to put in it.

...

"We definitely put Whiplash in there," Marceline stated. "The crowd loved it."

"Yeah, definitely," Guy agreed. "With the bass solo as well?"

"Nah," Marceline answered. "I think that's more of a live feature."

"Agreed," Keila said. "I also don't think a 5-minute solo at the beginning of a song is what the record company wants, we could make it its own separate track when we make the album though."

"What else should we put in it?" Bongo gestured with his hands.

"We could stuff it with songs we've already written but I think we should do one of yours," Keila told Marceline. "What about that one I watched you play in the street?"

"Everything Stays is a cover." Marceline told Keila.

"No, the other one."

"Fries?" Marceline asked. "We're gonna need to change the lyrics and arrangements for that one."

"Didn't you want to do more punk stuff?" Keila asked. "Make it into a punk song."

"Yeah, that's the easy part," Marceline told Keila. "I always have trouble with the lyrics."

"We can help with that." Guy offered and Bongo nodded. "Also if we're gonna make it punk we should put Paranoid in between Whiplash and Fries, it's metal but punky at the same time."

"Good thinking Guy!" Keila praised. "We should also include a more commercial ballad at the end to really capture their attention."

"We have never written a ballad." Bongo gestured.

"I have." Marceline spoke.

"Oh great!" Keila said. "Can we hear it?"

"Sure," Marceline ran to her room and came back with a piece of paper then made her way to the keyboard in Keila's living room. "It's about when my godfather died of Alzheimer's, so it might be too depressing." Marceline sat down at the piano, put the paper down so she could read it, and scrolled through the settings until she found one she liked and started playing.

Marceline, is it just you and me in the wreckage of the world?

That must be so confusing for a little girl

And I know you're going to need me here with you

But I'm losing myself, and I'm afraid you're gonna lose me too

Marceline's voice cracked as she thought of Simon and how saddened he was when he found out his diagnosis and how he steadily lost his mind. Marceline stopped playing ad she felt a hand on her shoulder.

"It's alright if you don't want to keep going," Keila said. "But I love the beginning." Marceline wiped the tears from her eyes.

"It's ok..." Marceline said. "I wanna keep going." Her hands went back to the piano.

This magic keeps me alive, but it's making me crazy

And I need to save you, but who's going to save me?

Please forgive me for whatever I do

When I don't remember you

Guy must have felt that she was about to break down again because he started singing the second verse which he was reading off of the paper while Marceline played.

Marceline, I can feel myself slipping away

I can't remember what it made me say

But I remember that I saw you frown

I swear it wasn't me, it was the crown

Marceline felt well enough to come back in so she started harmonising over Guy.

This magic keeps me alive, but it's making me crazy

And I need to save you, but who's going to save me?

Please forgive me for whatever I do

When I don't remember you

Da-da, da-da, da-da, da-da

Da-da, da-da, da-da, da-da

Da, da

Marceline ended on a major chord she had tears flowing down her face but so did Keila and Bongo.

"Oh wow..." Keila rubbed her tears on her sleeve. "That's...that's a fucking hit right there I don't think we even need to add anything to it, just the synth and your voices...maybe drums, and I could play bass..." Keila rubbed her tears with her sleeve again and Marceline couldn't help but smile at the fact she had made people cry with her music.

"Sounds good," Marceline rubbed off her tears with her hand. "How do we record this demo?"
