Vega had been despondent ever since her Sixth-Year at Hogwarts ended and she returned to her home. She was not allowed to go out very often, even in her own garden, and there was always someone disguised and keeping an eye on her from the Order. She had nothing to do but lay in her bed and practice all the spells she could find in the books she owned, especially defensive ones, hoping she wouldn't have to use offensive ones all too often.
The journey to find the Horcruxes was upon Vega but she had so far kept it hidden from her family. She spent most of her time working on potions such as antidotes to all sorts of poisons – common or uncommon – she worked on Blood-Replenishing and Energising Potions, Calming Draughts, Sleeping Potions for rest, and explosive potions in case of sudden need.
On the other hand, potions like the Polyjuice Potion were more important than ever. Vega knew that she would be able to physically hide herself if the situation called for it but she had three friends that she needed to care for and make sure they had backup, too.
All of these potions were poured into phials and sealed containers, stuffed away into a fairly unsuspecting bag, along with antidotes to all sorts of injuries.
Essences of Dittany and Murtlap, and Gillyweed, were all very important for Vega to salvage out.
This was how Vega had spent the first month into her holidays, trying not to look suspicious with the way she was packing up her stuff – but that wasn't hard to do.
It was a strange environment in the Tonks Residence – Dora and Lupin had gotten married two weeks into the holidays, and it had taken some time to convince both Andromeda and Ted to give their blessing to Dora, which happened just days before the wedding.
The wedding itself was not a big event; there weren't a lot of people who were to be invited, and neither of the couple seemed to be in the situation to have such a wedding, either. Vega had wanted to be the Maid of Honour, and Dora promised her that they would have a better wedding, a proper event once everything had calmed down. Vega hoped to see it.
But things were still tense between the others: it was hard for Andromeda to see that someone just a few years younger than her was married to her only daughter. And it was clear to Vega that Dora's often reckless behaviour concerned Andromeda regarding Lupin's condition.
Ted had tried to lighten the atmosphere but even he looked oddly conflicted as to what was to happen during such times that had come upon them.
There had been another massive Azkaban breakout and all the Death Eaters that had been in there had broken out. Everyone was even more on alert as they did their day-to-day objectives. Actually, people rarely left their homes and Vega hadn't been surprised to know that there were people putting on the Fidelius Charms left and right on their homes.
And the most shocking news that reached Vega was about Professor Charity Burbage, her Muggle Studies teacher back at Hogwarts.
Vega did not know what had happened to Professor Charity Burbage or where she was right now. But she wouldn't be surprised if the Death Eaters had gotten to her.
It was been said that the Professor of Muggle Studies had simply 'resigned' from her post but everyone in the Order thought otherwise.
Professor Burbage had written an impassioned defence of Muggle-Borns in the Daily Prophet, rallying everyone to accept them as part of the Wizarding World. Vega had read it and she knew Voldemort must've come to know how Professor Burbage mentioned how the diminishing number of Pure-Bloods was actually a very desirable circumstance.
Snape must've helped the Death Eaters in tracking down Professor Burbage... Snape must've also given in the information about other Order members to Voldemort as well.
