While working in his lab Cranky's experiment went wrong and it caused him to age into an old man
He then met a female ape named Wrinkly Kong, they fell in love, and the 2 had a son who they named Donkey Kong Junior
However Wrinkly Kong passed away and Cranky felt so empty and alone. He spent most of his time on the island being rude and grumpy
He found DK the 3rd on his door step when he was a baby and has taken care of him ever since
While Donkey Kong talks about Mario's heroics, Cranky on the other hand still remains sceptical about the plumber

While Cranky dose get pretty annoyed at DK slaking off and dose yell at him for not doing his job but in the end he dose love his grandson and will make sure he dose his job as the king of the jungle
