The day after the event, Lo'ak went outside the reef, again, to go meet with Payakan. He wanted explanations. Why was he an outcast? Why was he a ''killer tulkun''?

He finally found him, and started to communicate with him.

Neteyam, Tsireya, Aonung, Fayn and Rotxo were hiding in some corals near the tulkun. The group followed Lo'ak to see what he was talking about, the other day on the beach. To see if he was right, if Payakan was not really a killer.

Lo'ak asked Payakan why he had the reputation of a killer tulkun, and the creature answered by opening his ginormous mouth, for Lo'ak to go in. The boy hesitated, but eventually went in. Payakan then closed his mouth after the boy had entered.

Neteyam tried to go after his brother, but Tsireya held him back. Fayn was just beside him, and could feel he was anxious and worried. She wrapped her arm around his, trying to calm him down.

When Lo'ak got out, they all went back to the village.

When Ronal and Tonowari found out about Lo'ak's connection with Payakan, they brought all of the teens in their Marui to have a talk. They were extreme mad that an outsider had bonded with a tulkun, especially Payakan. Jake and Neytiri also joined them, not knowing what was going on.

Tonowari was lecturing Lo'ak, while everyone one else was sitting down listening.

Lo'ak was being stubborn, he was arguing with Tonowari about Payakan's reputation. Even if Neytiri was telling to stop, he didn't. Jake eventually took control and lectured Lo'ak himself.

At the end of the lecture, everyone went back to doing their things.

—————————

Neteyam and Fayn were riding around the reef on Neteyam's ilu, having fun exploring the reef and it's creatures.

After a while, they saw their parents leave the reef with the Metkayina leaders on their ilus.

''Hey where are you going?'' Neteyam reached out to his father.

''Outside the reef. There was a tulkun attack.'' He responded.

''We're coming.'' Neteyam said.

They followed the group until they saw a tulkun floating in the middle of the ocean with a bunch of other tulkuns around it.

Ronal rushed to it. She was her spirit sister. Dead.
The tulkun's baby was swimming around his mother, clearly lost.

The scene brought Fayn back to when she was twelve. She understood the baby orphan better than everyone. She started to lean on Neteyam's back naturally, because of the pain she felt. It was a deep pain in her core, that she hadn't felt in year. Neteyam gently rested his hand on her leg, and turned his face to see the girl behind him. He knew what was going through her mind.

''It's okay Fay, I'm here.'' He whispered to her ear.

She shed a tear, and simply slid her hand on the boy's waist, wich he responded by putting his hand over hers.

Ronal was devastated because of the death of her spirit sister. It was understandable. Her screams and sobs were echoing in Fayn's head.

Neytiri met eyes with Neteyam, and saw how Fayn wasn't really feeling well. She could see in Neteyam's eyes that he was worried, and the girl's body posture was telling how much she was in pain.

''I think we should go back to the village. Look at Fayn.'' Neytiri pointed out.

The fathers turned their heads towards the teens.

''She's not feeling well. It's noticeable.'' Tonowari said.

''She must relate to the situation. That's why. At least she has Neteyam.'' Jake added.

Ronal went back to her ilu and the group made their way back to the village.

—————-

''My spirit sister has been murdered by the sky people, because of you!'' Ronal yelled.

Fayn made her way behind Tsireya, while the Metkayina were getting angry. There was a dispute between the Metkayina and Omaticayas. The situation between the clans was only getting worse.

The ocean clan were reacting to the conversation, while Neteyam was trying to calm them down.

Eventually, Jake took the tulkun tracker in his hands and showed it to everyone.

''Tell the tulkuns, that if they're hit by one of these, they're marked for death. Saving their lives, that's all that matters right? Saving your family. '' Jake stated.

Silence was his answer.

''Go tell the tulkuns.'' Tonowari said before everyone started to walk away.

Lo'ak started to run towards his Marui when Fayn grabbed his arm.

'' Where do you think you're going.'' She asked.

''I'm telling Payakan. Don't stop me.''

'' No you are not. It's dangerous out there. Sky people are probably hunting right now and I don't want your skxawng ass hit by their guns.'' Fayn said.

'' You can't stop me. He deserves to be saved. He saved me when I was about to die.'' Lo'ak snapped.

'' Yeah but you don't deserved to die either Lo'ak. I'm protecting you right now. It's what family does.'' Fayn responded.

Lo'ak was getting angry and out of control.

'' You don't need to protect me, you're not even my sister!'' He yelled.

That felt like a knife in Fayn's heart. She froze.

Neteyam walked towards them, silently, just watching the scene.

"Control your girl Neteyam." He said

That boiled Fayn's blood. She needed to go away fast to not punch him in the face.
Neteyam took over and spoke to Lo'ak while she called her ilu to go calm herself down. She knew he didn't mean it but she still was hurt.

She saw from far away the boys riding their ilus out of the reef. She still cared for Lo'ak, and wanted to make sure he didn't do anything stupid.

When she got close, Lo'ak didn't even look at her. He felt guilty for what he had said. But now was not the time for apologies.

Kiri, Tuk and Tsireya joined the trio, and rode their ilus until they had found Payakan, with a tracker on his back.

'' Shit'' Neteyam cursed.
