I made my way back round to the Mercedes garage, still in shock after my encounter with Max. It felt as if he had me under his control - not even Maya could get that information out of me. As I entered the garage, my dad dragged me over to find a seat to watch Max lift the trophy. It was obvious he wasn't happy but he put on a false smile and watched the ceremony. Lewis had come second in the championship so at least there was something for him to be proud of.

As Max was handed the trophy there were cheers and applauds from all over, everyone congratulating the Dutch man who was now soaked in Champagne. I couldn't help but smile but my father nudged me and gave me a stern look which I was pretty sure Max saw. He looked over at me and winked before walking over to an over-the-moon Christian Horner. I heard my dad mutter something in German before getting up to talk to Lewis.

And there I was, left to observe the scene, everyone congratulating everyone and champagne flooded the floors. I didn't notice Max come up behind me.

"Your dad seems very happy" he laughed as he whispered down my ear, causing me to jump slightly.

"Very happy" I replied.

"So how are you feeling now princess?" I could hear his smirk without even seeing it. He was too cocky and over-confident.

"Why did I even tell you that?"

"Because you love me" his voice once again was soft and gentle. My dad reappeared in front of me.

"Zeit zu gehen" he said, giving Max a stern look.

"And that's my advice on how to beat me next season. Make sure to pass it on to Lewis" Max said and walked off towards his team. I looked up at my father who seemed unimpressed at his comment. We walked off together back to our hotel room.

"How's Maya?" He asked.

"Upset"

"Rightfully so. It was Lewis' from the beginning" his tone was full of anger, which upset me even more since it reinforced my feelings. "I'm gonna take these next few months as an opportunity to build on my team and then we'll see who's laughing"

I couldn't help but feel hurt by his words - he always put f1 before family, before me.
