Y/N grabbed the palate of wood and sprinted down the hall, trying to put some distance between him and the ventilation-borne monster. Once he got to the end of the hallway, there were two doors, both leading to party rooms. He picked one at random and rushed in, looking for somewhere to hide. He got under the tablecloth, putting himself in between the wooden palate and one of the chairs. Hopefully, if he was silent and didn't move, anything that came in wouldn't be able to tell he was there.
He took a moment to catch his breath as he felt his adrenaline die down. He was about to crash from all the stress, his eyes frantically shooting around in a feeble attempt to analyze the room he was in. From his hiding spot, he could just make out the edge of the door he came in through, as well as some of the adjoined wall, but not much else. He bent over further to see under the chair, which gave him a view of a second door. If the layout of the pizzeria made any sense, that door should lead to the main hallway where he had seen Bonnie.
After calming down a little further, Y/N strained his ears, listening for that nightmarish static noise that signified the presence of The Mangle. When he heard nothing, he breathed a sigh of relief and took out his phone. He tried to send a message to someone, anyone, to come help him, but there was no reception in the building. He assumed he must be under a really thick ceiling or multiple floors.
Cursing his terrible luck so far, he opted to just sit and wait for a while to see what happened. While he sat in silence, the ambient noises of the closed restaurant grated against his ears. The vents around him hummed, the kitchen in the back generated noises from its various machines and plates, and the main hallway whistled from the air being blown down it. The walls of the party room were thin enough for Y/N to be able to hear all of it. After a good while, even though his situation was tense, he got bored. He had been sitting under the table for nearly two hours. Before that, he had watched the security guard for about an hour. It was almost five o'clock already.
Just as he was about to get out and look around, he heard footsteps, which instantly set him back into panic mode. Once again, it was the bright blue Bonnie making his way into the room. Frantically trying to become as small as possible, Y/N barely even noticed the animatronic walking around his table and crawling into the open vent. When he heard the sounds of Bonnie leaving, he uncovered his head and looked up. The vent, he figured, must be the one the creepy bunny used to get to the nightguard in his office. What terrible design. Y/N thought to himself.
As the anxiety from Bonnie's appearance died down, Y/N realized that if he was going to make a move, it needed to be right then. The animatronic bunny seemed to have a path he liked to follow, given that he entered the same room and left through the vent twice the same way. Hopefully, he wouldn't go that way again any time soon, and as much as the man didn't want to, he knew his only way out was to follow Bonnie's path through the vent. Scooting his way out from under the table, he noticed two things. First, the door from the main hallway into the party room was open, and seemed as if it stayed that way most of the time. Second, there was zero protection on the vent, meaning anything could just crawl in and out.
Rolling his eyes at the almost comical oversight, Y/N crawled into the duct that had costed the night guard his life. Moving slowly so as not to make any noise, the man made his way to the bend in the vent. It was a right angle, so he could get a look at what was around it without exposing his body. Peeking just the top of his head around the corner, he could just make out the security office at the end of the passage. There were no animatronics in sight, and the whole building was quiet, save for the ambient noises from the ventilation.
It was impossible to tell if The Mangle had known Y/N was there before, or if it was just coincidence that it happened to be traveling down that vent. If it had somehow not noticed him, he was in the clear. In that case, none of the animatronics would be looking out for another human. If that wasn't the case, and The Mangle had known he was there, it was going to be significantly harder to get to the exit. Y/N decided to proceed with caution, because if he was wrong about being unknown, it would cost him his life.
Having made it to the end of the metal passage, he took his first tentative step out into the open. There wasn't an animatronic in sight, not even Bonnie, and the fan was still blowing air at the now vacant office chair. The first thing he did was search for whatever the security guard was trying to grab before he got snatched. It might be of use.
Making his way to the left side of the desk, Y/N saw an empty headpiece resembling Freddy. There was nothing else over there, so that had to be it. It seemed silly that the night guard's defense against the humongous robots tormenting him was a disguise, and such a feeble one at that, but then again, they were just robots. It would make sense that they couldn't tell the difference.
Taking the empty head with him, Y/N began making his way towards the edge of the long hallway. His heartbeat quickened at the thought of trying to make it all the way down that passage without being caught. There were so many doors, so many places for any of the animatronics to see him. He just hoped the mask would be enough.
Before he could even take a step into the long passage, he heard footsteps from the nearest party room to his left. Panicking, Y/N quickly threw the mask on. He stood deathly still, hoping whatever was in that room wouldn't pass by him. Contrary to his hopes, the footsteps grew ever closer, and before long, a bright yellow Chica animatronic was walking right past him. She looked at him for a moment, clearly acknowledging his presence, before continuing on. The mask worked, but Y/N's heart rate was beyond unhealthy.
But the mask had worked. He couldn't be certain it would work for all of them, but it did fool this new, exceedingly shiny Chica. After letting his heart fall back down from his throat into his chest, he turned to take his first step out into the hallway. His breathing came heavy through the mask as he slowly made his way through the hallway, trying his hardest not to make any noise. Just as he thought he was home free, the exit in sight, he failed to notice the mop bucket on the ground in front of him. He stepped into it, making a lot of noise and causing him to trip. Panic set in as his mask flew off his head and down the hall.
Y/N knew it was over for him as soon as he hit the ground. The sounds around him changed from the hollow ambience of the building to the gutteral growling of The Mangle's broken voice box. It grew louder and louder until the vent further down the hallway shook with the pressure of metal limbs battering against it. The white and pink face that terrified Y/N in his sleep was now staring at him from only a couple yards away, both eyes hollow and black.
He scrambled to stand up, but he didn't make it past a sitting position before the animatronic started crawling towards him at a rapid pace. He put his hands out instinctively, as if they would even protect him. With both of his eyes closed from terror, he didn't see what happened at first, but he felt an immense pain followed by crushing pressure on his right arm. He opened his eyes to see the demonic creatures jaws locked around his limb, blood dripping everywhere from its razor sharp teeth. His torn skin was waving around as he frantically tried to pull it free. Tears leaked from the corners of his eyes, mixing with the blood on the floor. Just as he thought the violent fox was going to rip his forearm clean off, a loud bell sounded throughout the building. Immediately, the pressure on his arm receded, followed by the slinking noises of metal across the floor, but before he could even make out what happened, Y/N blacked out from blood loss.
