KIARA CULLEN WAS PERFECT IN THE eyes of everyone. Almost everyone. Her technique, her hair her style all beamed an underlying perfection. But none of that could compare to the perfection that she held within herself. The desire to try her hardest and push herself as far as possible. The fear of failure that sat like a pressure in her stomach any time she wasn't perfect. That realisation that she could have done better.
Dancing was no exception to that, at least it wasn't when she first started. She tried to be perfect with every dance, every flex of her foot, flick of her arm, arch of her back. But then she found the true meaning behind it. She found the fluidity that came with letting go and freeing yourself of that pressure. And just like that dance became her escape. And without knowing it, she was still perfect in everyone's eyes.
But with perfection came jealousy and separation in a team that needed unity to succeed. And with perfection came the want for escape. To find someone who wouldn't look for every flaw and imperfection. Someone who loved you for you and let you be imperfect but still loved you all the same. That was what James Smith became for Kiara Cullen. The girl who seemed to hate everyone but could never bring herself to hate the boy who became her escape from the crushing weight she put on her shoulders.
