Bhanumati
Late Night Cries

The Kashi princess, the widow of the late prince Duryodhana lay on the bed smiling.

Smiling? How can she, when it's not even a week after her
husband's death? People wonder when she smiles at others, trying to make them smile.

But deep down, her heart cries every moment. A voice echoes in her mind and heart, maybe if she had worked
more harder in bringing her husband to the right path, she wouldn't have been standing in this situation today,
all alone.

After Duryodhana's death, she just and just waited for the sun to set and the dark clouds to occupy the sky.

Night was something very special to her. The only time for being herself, without any forced smile, she could be
the real Bhanumati.

She is all broken, but no one will ever notice!
A sad reality in her life.

"I wish I could have one final conversation with you. I feel
like there is so much unsaid." she spoke in front of the portrait of her late husband.

"I never knew that I could feel so much pain and yet be so in love with the person causing it." she continued.

Maybe he will never know how strongly the princess of
Kashi loves him.

"Mata, don't worry please. You think too much. Where will I go? At the end of the day, a son will always come to
his mother's lap." her son had once said.

She was just another promise that he couldn't keep.

"Mata, when I was a kid, you were telling the stories of Ramayana. And do you remember, I had asked you a
question, why, Meghnad fight the war against Rama even though he knew that his father was wrong? You had
replied that day as it was his duty as a son. Today I am doing the same." Lakshmana Kumara had smiled, their
last conversation.

That day, she sent his son, with a brave face, wishing him the best. She let him go, but that didn't mean that she wanted to.

"Maata, no one wants to be friends with me. They say that my father is evil. And they judge me based on it.
Pitashri has Angaraj, kakashri Arjuna and kakishri Draupadi has Vasudev Krishna. Everyone has friends, but I don't!" her 3 year old daughter had tears expressing her grief.

And from that day, Bhanumati was not just a mother to Lakshmanaa. She became her guiding soul, guardian
angel, an inspiration and above all, a friend that everyone needs in their lives.

Bhanumati walked to the cupboard and opened a small
box. It was given by her in-laws, when she first came to Hastinapura.

The box had been empty all these years, but now she would fill it back again. Bhanumati started removing the gold bangles in her hand and kept it back in the box.

“Family means no one gets left out or forgotten.” Ghandari had explained to the newly wedded Bhanumati.

But it seems like she did forget. She did forget that Draupadi who had been dragged to the court was her
family, she did forget that whom her son was envying from birth was her family, she did forget while cursing
the Yadav clan, that her granddaughter was being cursed too.

Nothing held much importance in her life now, she was just an empty, broken soul, deprived of everyone and
everything.

Like any other night, the tears from her doe shaped eyes flowed like a river. She had everyone in the days, but at
the night, it was just her, alone shedding pearls of tears.

Bhanumati bent her head towards the bed rest, looking at the ceiling, border designs carved royally. She remembered her mother’s words and closed her eyes.

“A woman holds much importance in the world, especially in a family. The good or bad deeds she does, will have an effect on her loved ones, living or dead.”

A small smile beautified her face, maybe losing everyone was not the end. She still could do so much, she smiled, sleep engulfing her, her heart having a purpose for tomorrow.

The most underrated person I believe is Bhanumati.

Do share your thoughts on this, nothing's better than hearing you and improving myself.
