since this is my main app, i'll take a little time to explain it properly. if you know ibispaint already, feel free to skip.

okay i know, ibispaint might seem a little overwhelming to someone who is just starting out with graphics. but i promise you, it's really simple to use once you've got the hang of it.
i haven't even figured out all the possible settings and features yet, because there's just so much to do there, but we will work our way through all the basic stuff!

this is what the app looks like when you open it.

lets start from the bottom right icons to the left.

first the arrow, there you can save your artwork, return to the gallery and there are also some useful settings i'd look through (like undo by two finger tap, redo by three finger tap. very useful)

then we have the layers button. click on it and you'll see an overview of all the open layers as well as some features connected to them.

column on the right side, going top to bottom: clear layer, invert layer (might be useful for overlays), move layer, flip vertical and horizontal and merge layers

column on the right side, going top to bottom: clear layer, invert layer (might be useful for overlays), move layer, flip vertical and horizontal and merge layers. last one means the current layer and the one below will become one.

you can also change the opacity and the blending mode of the layers, and apply a clipping mask (we'll need that later), that means that the layer will be "attached" to the layer below - everything you draw on there will only appear on the layer below. you can also change the background you're working with.

then on the left, below the little canvas we have add new photo, new layer, take photo and horizontal/vertical flip.

blending modes

i'll quickly give an overview for blending modes, since this is really important and took me some time to figure it out myself (i still haven't fully, so that's why i can't guarantee this explanation will be totally correct or anything)

the darken blending modes are for adding dark stuff/for when you want the dark parts to be more prominent.

the lighten modes you use for adding highlights, lights in general and bright things you really want to shine and stand out.

then the contrast layers are pretty self-explanatory, i pretty much only use overlay and soft light when i want the lighting darker/more contrasted.

the difference blending modes invert the layer in different ways, so that it really stands out - this is good for text.

and with the color blending modes you can apply coloring/change the saturation.

feel free to point out if i got anything wrong, as mentioned i still haven't figured all of them out fully 😭✋🏼

now back to the starting screen.
after the layer icon there is one (the arrow) that lets you focus more on the canvas and next is the color tool. there you can pick your colors through different regulations as well as changing the opacity.

next we have the brush icon, where you can see kinda a little „preview" of the brush you're currently using. when clicking on it, you can choose different brushes and also import your own (i'll show some nice ones later). here again you can choose the opacity and thickness for your brush (you can always do that on the normal starting screen, too).

going back into the normal menu, next icon we have is the tools icon.
now, this one has a lot of different possibilities and i'd recommend just to play around and get to know them for a bit.

first is transform

first is transform. here you can rotate, move the layers normally or just in x- or y- direction as well as use the perspective and mesh tool, where you're able to distort and kinda really pull the layer into different shapes etc.

then from the other tools i mainly use brush (obviously lmao), smudge, the text tool and the eyedropper. with the last one you can pick a color from your artwork to draw with, shortcut is to tap and hold - then the color you point on is selected.
then i use a lot of the filters, the eraser, blur and frame divider. there will be more explanation on all these tools later as they come in useful!
if you click on canvas you can just to some resizing and rearranging and stuff with your canvas.

the next button in the normal menu is pretty self-explanatory, you can swap between eraser and brush.

on the top right we also have the ruler tool (with straight, radial and elliptical rulers) and the stabilizer (the little finger) which will be useful later.

damn! that's quite a bit. but now we're ready to start. hope this was helpful & if there are still questions, feel free to ask away either here or in the request chapter!

『 feel free to drop anything regarding ibispaint that might help others! <3』
