Everything was a lie.
The demon deceived her once more, but this time was different. This time, he didn't only lie to her for years, giving her hope that someone would genuinely love her and make her experience the kind of love she had only read about in novels.
Blade tried a different strategy, having her fall in love with him, since he realized he couldn't break her that easily. Celine ought to have recognized the warnings. Thinking about it, it was very evident, that Blade had never truly felt anything for her. No demon or other evil being could transform into a Prince Charming and grant her every wish while spending hours with her, giving her hugs when she was unhappy, and looking at her as though she were his salvation.
It seemed too good to be true. But her gullible heart yearned for it to be real. She ran into the trap, essentially seeking to have her heart torn out of her, and this is precisely what occurred. He even confessed to intending to break her when they got to the Antarctic.
If only she had realized how accurate the statement was. However, it was too late. Celine was still standing, shaken and unable to believe what had just happened. Only the stars provided any illumination; everything else was pitch black. Celine was stuck with nowhere to go. The instant she confessed her affection for him, the home vanished. In addition, Blade left her outside in the cold, unconcerned about what would happen to her next.
She was wholly shattered and lost.
By the minute of her not moving, she became more cold but she didn't care at all. All her thoughts revolved around all memories of Blade spending here for years. From one to the other moment, she broke down with a loud wail. The snow on her face was cold, her tears frozen, yet she couldn't stop weeping.
He did it. The devil broke her.
After lying there for hours, she could feel her body temperature decreasing. She knew this feeling too well. If she didn't get up now and find shelter she would die again. But she didn't only not care but embraced death. Death felt better than having to feel this pain for one more second.
Right before the dying process set in, she started to calm down. At least this feeling no matter how painful it was, was making her feel at ease. A welcoming feeling, something familiar. Her breath began slowing down and the feeling of warmth set in. With that, she peacefully closed her eyes and let go.
She couldn't recall but when she opened her eyes again, Celine was huddled in snow. A part of her didn't care, wanted to stay where she was but the part that told her Blade would enjoy this view if he found her in the exact same spot he broke her heart. Trying to get out was hard work. Her hands started hurting, breathing was hard since no air filled the spot she was in. With her last strength, she broke free and sucked in a long breath.
Then another wave of pain hit her remembering that everything was a game to him and no memory they shared meant anything to him. She had to leave the spot and find shelter. But since the house was gone, she had to build one in her current state. With wet clothing and frozen tears on her face, she walked without looking back, otherwise, she would break down all over again.
Celine walked for hours on and on without stopping as if she could escape from feeling the pain. Only when the sun was about to set, she began to build an igloo. Now she was glad that she practiced building these over the years. Celine didn't even register that she was already done because she switched to autopilot, trying so hard to fight back her tears.
Going into the igloo and just laid there, not moving an inch for months. All memories of her life before and during her deal with Blade had been replaying on repeat. Even remembering the good memories made her feel only one emotion. Sadness.
