When I close my eyes,
I'm afraid of what I see.
Is it the failure of my tries?
Or an avalanche of memories from when I was free?

When I close my eyes,
I'm afraid of what I feel.
Is it the sting of my cries?
Or the guilt of what I might steal?

When I close my eyes,
I'm afraid of what I hear.
Is it the crunch of the fries?
Or the scratching claws of my fear?

When you close your eyes,
Are you afraid of what you might see?
Of what you might feel?
Of what you might hear?

Are you afraid of the lips that spew nothing but lies?
Afraid of the lips that make you fear your tries
Afraid of the lips that make you hear your cries
Afraid of the lips that have shoved in the fries
Afraid of the lips that tell you,
You are not the prize.
