October 2025

It's been five years since Hoseok and I officially became a couple. And, it's been quite the wild ride since then.

After a year of being with Ador, BigHit was looking for another choreographer to help both TXT and different members of BTS, who were focusing on their solo albums. Sungdeuk urged me to apply. At first, I was hesitant about directly working for the same company as Hoseok. But, along with Sungdeuk, Hoseok and the rest of the members convinced me to just try, and they offered me the job after some intensive interviews and auditions.

Of course, while I was going through the long, arduous audition process, a couple of the individuals I went against made their disdain of me clear, but of course they acted like we were friendly whenever Hoseok and the rest of OT7 were around. Instead of complaining about the fellow hopefuls to the guys, I kept it to myself and just worked my ass off to fairly gain the title as a BigHit choreographer, and I was victorious.

I'm kind of glad I got out of Ador when I did because a lot of shady things were happening involving the then-CEO, at the time. But, it's gotten better since then.

January of last year, Hoseok entered the military. And, just last month, he returned to me, now back to being a civilian.*

It was tough being away from him for significant amounts of time. It was a huge adjustment from seeing him at home to him being gone for a longer period of time. Yes, before the military, he did leave to go oversees for concerts and promotions but I'd take that over him being gone for much longer with little communication. At least I was able to video call or simply call or text him when he was touring compared to when he was in the military. But, I know he was working hard and proving himself to be a good citizen. And, he even moved his way up in ranks. It was a duty he was proud to carry for his country.

The man has accomplished so much in the military and I am beyond proud of the man I now call my husband.

Yes, he's earned the title of my husband. We decided to get married a couple months before he entered the military. It wasn't anything on a whim. We discussed it plenty of times and it just felt right. It was Hoseok who first voiced the idea of us getting married before he left for the military. For a while, we thought we would wait, but in the end, we mutually wanted to solidify our relationship through marriage and nuptials, where only our closest family and friends were present. We also decided to have our intimate ceremony and reception in Auckland.

Some so-called friends doubted our decision of not waiting until after Hoseok's military service, but I wouldn't have done it any other way. Yes, I was worried that our time apart would affect our marriage, but it only made us stronger. I did miss him like hell when he was away, but we did our best with communication and we took advantage of the times when he was able to take time off. Of course, the rest of the boys in Bangtan, and their significant others were beyond supportive, especially Jimin, who ended up being the best man, much to chagrin of the other members. But, they all understood, since they knew not only did he have a strong bond with Hoseok, he also did with me, as well.

Amelia was obviously my maid of honor and made sure everything went smoothly when it came to our wedding shower, ceremony and reception. Yeongseo, Sohyun, Courtney and Bogyeol all stayed closed to me and were part of the bridal party. I was so happy that all the Bangtan significant others were able to fly out to Auckland to celebrate with us.
