It was Thursday today and I had no intention of going to school. When my alarm rang I threw my vibrating phone at my sofa which was opposite my bed. However it hit the wall above my sofa and fell behind it. "Shit shit shit shit shit!" I hissed jumping out of my bed and quickly pushed my sofa away and fell to my knees grasping my phone in my hands. There were two cracks: one on the corner and one going across the middle diagonally.

Does it work?

I turned it on and typed in my four number passcode. It works, phew. I sighed in relief and put my phone on my bedside table. I went downstairs and my mom was already starting to make my usual breakfast: rice balls with fried seaweed that we get from the oriental store down the road. "Mom I'm not going to school today," I stated. She whipped her head around and raised an eyebrow, "What?"

"'m not going to school," I looked her dead in the eye, something I do not ever recommend if you have an Asian mother.

"Well okay," she shrugged, "but I'm still making you breakfast, sit down," I sat down reluctantly and looked at her. "What if you don't go to school, and Beyonce makes a surprise appearance at your school?"

"I don't care about Beyonce," I lied.

"What about that Adrians girl that you're obsessed with? What if she makes a surprise appearance?"

"'You mean Ariana Grande? | don't care about silly celebrities," I pretended as if I hadn't been saving up for three years to afford to go see her at a concert.

"Oh I think you do," Mom winked at me and she placed my food into a bowl, I rolled my eyes but now my paranoia kicked in. I certainly don't want to be lying around all day doing nothing and find Ariana on Seulgi's Snapchat story later on. Mom put my bowl in front of me and handed me my chopsticks. "D'ya know? Maybe I will go to school today. I feel a lot more mentally prepared than I did five minutes ago."

"Okay," Mom smirked and sat down to eat the food as well. I ate quickly and then headed straight upstairs to brush my teeth. I texted Jennie to ask if she was coming to school today and she said she was. I smiled and went back to my room with a fresh grin to start my day. I chuckled to myself when I looked at my lettuce which was placed perfectly in the centre of my desk.

Yesterday when I got home, I moved all of my useless pieces of paper out of the way so my desk kind of looks like paper walls surrounding my lettuce.

I walked over to my wardrobe and looked at my mess.

How am I supposed to coordinate an outfit from that? I sighed and pulled out a pair of high waisted light blue mom jeans. I chucked them on my bed because that was the base for my outfit. I found my cropped white adidas hoodie and chucked it on my bed too. Now shoes.

My adidas trainers go well so I'm going to wear those.

A hat? Maybe a black cap? No! Ill wear a red and white bandana on my head after I get my mom to do two Dutch braids for me.

What's the time? 7:13am. I have seventeen minutes left before I leave. That's enough time. I got dressed quickly and put on my shoes. Wait! I forgot to choose a belt for my leans. The black one will do fine. i out the belt on and I grabbed my bag and quickly ran downstairs.

"Mom can you do two Dutch braids on me?"

"Woah! You've never made such an effort for school. Who do you have a crush on?" Mom gasped in amazement as she stared at me.

"No one, I just need you to do two braids on me."

"Please."

"Please," I rolled my eyes.

"Okay, sit down," mom swung out a chair for me and I sat down,

"So who is this boy?"

"It doesn't necessarily have to be a boy. I mean I don't like girls but you can't just assume."

"Woah okay there partner," Mom chuckled and apologised. I smiled contently and played with my fingers in boredom, "so who is this person?" Mom suddenly chimed.

"Mom I don't have a crush on anyone. I just want to be prepared if Ariana Grande makes a surprise appearance at my school," I explained, it was partly true.

"Okay okay, but just know, that I will support you no matter what choices you make, as long as you're not hurting anybody because I know I never raised any of my children to be horrible to others.

"Thank you," I chuckled. My mom finished doing my hair quickly and so I put my bandana on and thanked her again, kissing her on the cheek, "bye Mom!" And then I left

when I got to school, by chance I walked in through the gate at the exact same time Jennie did. She was wearing dark grey high waisted jeans with a black and white stripy oversized turtleneck tucked in at the front. She was wearing burgundy Doc Martins and holding a cup of coffee in one hand and her bag in the other. When she saw me, the biggest grin appeared on her face, "hey!' She walked over to me--or ran--and squeezed me in a tight hug, "how are you?"

"I'm fine," I chuckled.

"Why are you so dressed up today?" She looked me up and down.

"Well, my mom convinced me that Ariana Grande might make a surprise appearance at school today so, ya know, gotta be prepared."

"You're an Arianator? That's so cute!'

"Shut up," I bit my lip, looking down at my feet, "it's embarrassing."

"Why?"

"Because everyone's always hating on her. Nobody appreciates talent these days because everyone's just a bunch of haters," I scoffed.

"You're so passionate about it" she chuckled.

"I'm sorry I'm boring you."

"You're not. I mean, I'm a Beyhive so I guess you know a secret of mine too!" She elbowed me playfully. we both giggled as we walked into the school building. we walked to my locker first since we got to it first and then we went to Jennie's locker. "Aww, you guys look so cute together!" Sana squealed as Jennie was closing her locker, "just because the soccer team likes faggots, doesn't mean cheerleaders do too. So Jennie you better watch your place on the team because everyone is replaceable." She hissed before smirking triumphantly as she walked passed us.

"Yeah that includes you too, you whore!" I yelled at her.

"Lisa stop," Jennie whispered, gently putting a hand on my bicep to stop me from going further forward. I flinched at the contact out I liked it. think touching my biceps is my new kink. Anyway, that's not the issue here. I looked at Jennie who had an annoyed expression on her face, "I hate that she thinks she can just push you around like that." I groaned.

"She's not."

"Jennie, yes she is, don't lie. I literally just saw it with my own two eyes."

"Whatever, let's get to class," she sighed and pulled me along. Since it was about forty hive minutes until the beginning of the school day, I hung out in her classroom until I had to quickly run to my own lesson.

---

I hadn't told anyone what happened before school with Jennie. I hadn't even told my friends that I went to Jennie's house or that we lettuce together. I told Seulgi that I overslept to explain why I came to class late. Later than usual anyway. I spent lunch time with Jennie, lying down on the floor in the dance studio, talking and it was time well spent. However all good things end quickly because the bell rang signifying the end of lunch and it was time to go.
