NOAH CLICKED HER TONGUE AS SHE WANDERED around aimlessly, looking at each and every shelf in the abandoned gas station. There wasn’t much supplies to scavenge, not that they needed any anymore, but it was always nice to have a little extra. Maybe her brother would need some when they caught up with him, or maybe he’d just be happy to see her. Maybe. She sighed as the final shelf only held ivy and then turned round on her heel, seeing Joel siphoning gas from every single wrecked car out on the highway through the large, musty picture window. He looked peaceful when he was alone, like he could really look tired. Noah knew he hadn’t been sleeping since they left Bill and Frank’s. He stayed up every single night, and he thought he was hiding it from Noah and Ellie, but Noah heard every snap of twig when he got up to guard their camp they decided to set for the night.

She couldn’t blame him for being worried. The only reason why she had noticed was because she couldn’t get to sleep either. She felt better when she knew he was keeping lookout, but she didn’t find it fair that he had to constantly give up the relief of sleep just for their safety. She wanted to bring it up, but she didn’t know how he’d take it. He looked harmless on his own, sure, but when riled up, she had seen what he could do.

Looking away from the window, she shuffled her way to the bathrooms where Ellie had disappeared off to after some excuse or another. Seeing as she had nothing else to do, she decided she’d entertain herself with some kind of conversation with the other girl, but what she didn’t realize was that the entertainment would just play out itself.
