Coming of Age

Camp Out (part 1)

Roy:

We're gonna go camp outside the city today. Richard and Barbara said that there's a cool, abandoned subway nearby. Jade's coming too.

(Roy, Barbara, Richard, and Jade all meet up at Oliver's mansion before leaving.)

"Come in guys. He's not here." Roy says, opening the door.
"Thanks. Need help Barbara?" Richard asks
"I'm a powerful woman. I don't need help. But thanks anyways."
"Huh?" Richard raises a brow.
"Oooh! She told you!" Roy laughs.
"Hey Jade! Nice to see you again!" Barbara smiles.
"You two. So, an abandoned subway, huh?" Jade smirks.
"Yeah! It's so awesome!"
"You've been there?"
"No. But my brother has. That is, before he went away."
"Away?"
"Yeah. He's a little...kookoo...you know."
"Interesting." Jade replies, walking away.
"But I'm not." Barbara says, running up towards her.
"Uh huh." Jade rolls her eyes.
"So, are you and Roy dating?"
"No. Did he tell you that?" Jade glares.
"No. Not at all. Just curious. He can be a really great guy."
"Oh. Are you into him?"
"No way! Ugh! Roy! He's like a big dog! Give a little and he'll take the it all!" Barbara exclaims.
"Really." Jade snickers.
"Yeah. I heard that you guys kissed. Is that true?"
"Where did you hear that from!?" Jade blurts.
"Wait! So it is true?!"
"Barbara!"
"Uh...Richard." Barbara hesitates.
"Who told Richard?!"
"I'm assuming Roy."
"Roy!!!!" Jade yells, pacing towards him.
"What's wrong Jade?" Roy replies, holding a bunch of sleeping bags.
"Did you tell Richard that we kissed?!"
"Well...Richard! Did you tell her I told you?!" Roy angrily pronounces.
"He's in the bathroom." Barbara replies.
"So you did?" Jade grimaces.
"Yeah." Roy hesitantly says.

(Immediately Jade shoves Roy, slamming him to the floor, dropping all the sleeping bags.)

"Ugghh!!" Roy exclaims
"Jade!" Barbara gasps while Jade stomps off.
"Ow!"
"Are you ok?" Barbara asks, helping Roy up.
"Yeah. Thanks. I'll be right back."
"Maybe you should..."
"Should what, Barbara?" Roy angrily turns around.
"Never mind."

(Rapidly Roy walks through the house, looking for Jade. Finally Roy finds her in one of the spare rooms laying on the bed.)

"Jade? Look, I'm sorry." Roy says, sitting next to her.
"Why would you tell him? You know he has a big mouth." Jade grumbles.
"I don't know. I guess I wanted to brag because he always does with his fifty girls."
"Don't ever do that again." Jade glares, sitting up.
"Ok. I promise."
"Good."
"You know, I wish I could do it again."
"Do what?"
"Kiss you."
"What?" Jade laughs.
"Yeeeaaaahh. I liked it." Roy blushes.
"Did you. Well, maybe you'll get lucky."
"Really?"
"Sure. But not now." Jade smiles, getting up and walking away.
"Sigh. Yeah."

(After getting everything together, everyone is finally ready to leave.)

"Alright guy and girls. Let's go!" Richard excitedly pronounces.
"Whooohooo!! Yeah!!!" Everyone shouts.

(Three hours later in the car, Richard and Barbara are asleep in the back seat while Roy is driving.)

"How far are we?" Jade asks.
"Uuuhh...we've got two more hours." Roy replies.
"I'm gonna try and sleep. You mind?"
"Not at all. Do you want to lean on me?"
"Sure."
"Comfortable?"
"Yeah. You've got big shoulders." Jade says, snuggling herself against Roy, trying to relax.
"I'll take that as a compliment." Roy smiles.
"You do that."

(Two hours later.)

"Wake up, guy. We're here." Roy says.
"Great!" Barbara yawns.
"Man, I slept good." Richard exclaims.
"Jade. Time to wake up." Roy softly speaks, gently tapping her.
"Mmm...I'm awake." Jade stretches.
