Echo is a Twitch Streamer, with around 140k followers, and with 215k subscribers on YouTube. They mainly play Warzone, Mario games and Overwatch, as well as a few other new games. People know them as a member of Frouse - a fair sized group of fellow Youtubers who play similar games. Echo often has their face on their streams, but has never attended a public event before due to lack of funds.
Masses of streamers and youtubers receive an email - discussing a large event held by an unknown organiser which was private, and a one-time opportunity. The venue was Port Bolivar, south-east of Houston, Texas. Splitting the content creating community into two pieces - one half were intrigued by the idea, the other half refuse the offer instantly.
The Frouse group's decision was influenced by a majority vote, attending the event winning with five votes to three against - they had a rule put in place, however. If one member of the group shows discomfort, they leave as soon as possible. The group stuck close together when arriving, and during the event, but then things turn south.
