Duaa (Supplication) is a very important way to worship Allah. Allah is hearing every word we say and when especially we do Du'a. Allah is not far from what we supplication but so close answers our Supplication, only we should do Du'a and leave the consequences on our Lord. Allah says in his Holy Book Alquran

"And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided."

Is Dua'a important?

To answer this question, we can look at some verses from quran and some Hadith of our prophet Muhammad Allah's blessings and peace be on him.

In Quran

"And your Lord says, "Call upon Me; I will respond to you." Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible."

In Sunnah

An-Nu'man bin Bashir (May Allah be pleased with them) reported:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Du'a (supplication) is worship."
As we see from these quotes , the answer is definitely yes.All kinds of worship, ebada, implies Du'a.once we are in trouble , we should hurry to do Du'a, we need childre, money, health, house, jobs, any thing , legal,in our world and even in the hear after we'd better do Du'a. Du'a is our weapon.

Etiquette of Dua'a

Du'a will likely be acceptable if the one follow these manners before doing it.

Faithfulness to Allah

To start with thanking Allah and praising Him and then giving salat on the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) and ending the du'a with the same

To ask Allah by His Names and Attributes

Raising One's Hands

Face the Qiblah when making du'a

Performing Wudu

Trust in Allah and have Yaqeen (certainty) that it will be answered

Persistence in du'a, not being hasty and abandoning dua'a

Presence of the heart in the du'a

Say du'a at times of trouble and of pleasure

To Cry with the fear of Allah

Make Du'a for oneself before making Du'a for others

Make du'a in a moderately low voice

To Repeat the Du'a three times

Do not make dua against oneself, ones family, wealth and children

Acknowledging One's sins

Doing good deeds and asking Allah by one's good deeds

Not to use excessive rhymed prose when making du'a

Not to make du'a for prohibited and impossible things

To make a Du'a that encompasses most of the needs of Deen and the dunya

Examples of Du'a from Quran

"Keep us on the right path. The path of those upon whom Thou hast bestowed favors. Not (the path) of those upon whom Thy wrath is brought down, nor of those who go astray." (Sura al-Fatiĥa, 1:6-7)

"Our Lord! accept from us; surely Thou art the Hearing, the Knowing." (Sura al-Baqara, 2:127)"

"Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and save us from the torment of Fire." (Sura al-Baqara, 2:201)"
