Chapter 6: THE LAKE.

       "I think I might know why...."

Aubrey looked at Kel in shock.

"w-what?! how?!" Said Aubrey as she  takes a step back, feeling scared.

"Well, this is like a puzzle. Mari's...not supposed to be alive. SOMETHING changed. And we have to pay for the change." Kel answered.

"huh? I don't get what you mean....Mari's...supposed to be dead?! I think you watch too much movies, Kel..." Aubrey spoke.

"Let's go to our hangout spot as we talk, I told Basil to meet him there"

Said Kel as he approached the stairs

"...Okay"

Said Aubrey as he followed him. Suddenly, she gets a flash of pushing Mari, hearing her scream in agony as she fell of the stairs. getting stabbed by....a violin?

"Aubrey? AUBREY!" 

Kel's scream echoed in Aubrey's ears

"Wha-HUH?" 

Aubrey almost punching Kel in reflex, as she realized she was crying.  

"no no no....I can't be.." Said Aubrey as she sniffed.

"Look, I don't really get things about emotions and stuff, but if anything's wrong, i'll try my best to cheer you up"

Kel smiled as he grabbed Aubrey's hand

"so...i'm not allowed to be sad when near you..? is that what you mean? I don't want to force myself to be happy, or..am I the one who's wrong? is it normal to force yourself to be happy? is that why Kel's always happy? cause he's normal? then...is something wrong with me?" Aubrey's thoughts filled her head.

Kel went silent, times like these, he usually says something to cheer her up, but last time he did it...everything went wrong. Not what he expected, everyone gets mad at him. He doesn't understand why though.

 They finally arrive at their usual hangout spot. They see Basil waving while sitting.

"Hi! you guys are finally here! did...something happened?" said Basil. Probably because he saw how red Aubrey's nose is.

"oh, its nothing! I was just...emotional!" 

"There's no point in lying right now, y'know. I was going to tell Basil about the whole Mari thing" Said Kel 

"WH- Then why didn't you say so?!" Said Aubrey in anger as she walks towards the bridge

Aubrey had always loved the scenery, it always calmed her down whenever she gets emotional. She really liked it. It was as if it was her comfort spot.

"It's pretty lonely without Hero, Mari and Sunny, huh?" Said Aubrey as she looks into the lake

"You could say that again..., Hero always comforts Mari cause she thinks it's all her fault. But, in my opinion, I think Sunny was...kinda at fault here." Said Kel as he walks towards Aubrey

"Fault..? Sunny's..fault? Kel do you know how off putting that is? You SAW how he was in the hospital, in PAIN. And you're just here saying it was HIS FAULT. If you EVER tried understanding your friend's feelings, then you should have understood by now that he was PRESSURED."

 Said Aubrey in anger. She couldn't just let her own friend be talked like that.

 "Aubrey, Mari was stuck in her room FOR WEEKS because she thought it was HER FAULT. Sunny PUSHED HER OFF THE STAIRS! SUNNY getting hurt was because of HIMSELF! HE RAN AWAY ON HIS OWN WILL!" Shouted Kel in anger. He really didn't like it when people get angry at him, this time, he decided to fight back. 

  Basil gets in between them to stop them from fighting.

"Guys! Stop! what happened has happened, lets just keep it as the past-" Said Basil as Kel  gets infront of him as both Kel and Aubrey ignore him.

  Basil's now at the very side of the bridge, as Kel infront of him argues with Aubrey.

" *sigh* why do they always fight? I guess i'll just sit here and wait till they stop.." Said Basil as he sits and tries to take a picture of the scenery with his camera.

"Y'know what? I'm done fighting about this, i'm too tired to talk to you." Said Aubrey as she tries to take a step back but Kel grabs her hand.

"Where do you think you're going?! We're not done yet!" Shouts Kel  

"LET GO OF ME!"

Aubrey pushes Kel in anger. Not knowing that Basil was behind him. 

Kel and Basil both splashes into the lake, But Kel grabbed the bridge's tip just in time

Aubrey takes a step back in shock. 'What did I just do? ..Basil? wait, basil cant swim! oh god,  oh god, OH GOD' Aubrey thought to herself as she freezes in the moment

"AUBREY SNAP OUT OF IT! WE NEED TO SAVE BASIL! COME ON!" Shouts kel as he grabs her hand, His hand was wet, so was his shirt, but Aubrey followed him cause she knew that she had to own up and save Basil

They looked around, swimming in the lake, hoping they'd find Basil, But after a few minutes, They've finally found him! they were happy, and grateful, that Basil could still be saved....or could he?

"Oh Basil, we were so worried about you! here, go rest in this tree!' Said Aubrey as her and Kel carries him under a tree for him to dry and maybe wake up

"Today was a long day! hopefully Basil wakes up soon! I wanna show him the stuff we went through just to carry him here!" Said Kel as he walks around with him still being wet from swimming

"well, I'll need to wash my hair today cause I just went swimming, but it was worth it for Basil!" Said Aubrey as she sits beside Basil

Kel stopped and looked at Aubrey and Basil

"hey..Aubrey...um..I should check his heartbeat, you know, just incase.." Said Kel, that didn't sound like something Kel would say as he's always thinking positively, but Aubrey didn't point that out as she thinks that Kel's just worried for Basil

Kel proceeds to check his heartbeat, his expression looks....

shocked? why? what's wrong? Basil's...okay right?

 "Kel, What's wrong? Why do you look like that?" Said Aubrey as she thinks for the best

"Basil- He's- He's DEAD!"
