"Fuck I hate when I get emotional." Luke laughs as he wipes his tears away with his sleeve.
We were both standing outside of my house, Luke still crying because of our deep conversation.
"Hey, thanks for telling me all that. It feels good to let it all out huh?" I smile up at him and he nods, his mouth curving upwards.
This was the first time I ever saw Luke cry. He looked so vulnerable and broken. I could tell that he was trying to hold it together and that's what scared me the most. It wasn't healthy to keep things in and that's something that Luke's been doing for awhile now.
"I'm here to listen, remember that." I rest my hand on his shoulder and he pulls me into a warm embrace.
I loved Luke's hugs.
His arms snaked around my waist and I wrapped mine around his neck, smiling into his chest.
"You're great Katie." he hums into my hair.
Luke pulls away and I frown at the loss of his warmth. He looks down at me and his eyes are irritated from crying.
"Thank you." he whispers before leaning in to kiss me.
I stand on my tippy toes to be at his level and he lifts me up, wrapping his large hands around my thighs and pushing me against the cold brick wall.
Just as Luke deepens the kiss I hear some footsteps. My eyes shoot open and Luke continues kissing me; not noticing that my parents are home and are possibly about to catch making out.
"Luke." I gasped and he pulled away, confused.
"What? Was I bad?" he puts his hand on his now swollen lips and I laugh.
"No, my parents are home!" I peck him on the cheek and push him off of my doorstep, waving my hand towards his parked car.
I mouth the word 'leave' and he frowns but nods, waving goodbye. I quickly pull out my keys from my back pocket and just as I twist the doorknob, Luke speeds off and my mother opens the door.
"Oh hey mom!" I say out of breath and she gives me a confused look.
"Hi Katie?" she looks over my shoulder then shrugs before walking into the house.
I follow her inside, closing the door behind me.
"I cooked chicken and waffles, your favorite." she smiles and my dad waves from the dinner table.
I wave back, "Uh I'm actually not that hungry."
"Okay.. take a seat." she tells me and I nervously gulp, sitting down.
"Wanna tell us where you were this morning?" my mom asks, taking a sip of her coffee.
"Library. I had to do some studying for my Latin exam Monday." I lie quickly and my dad raises his eyebrows.
"I thought you were taking Spanish?"
"That's what I said." I force a laugh and my parents glance at each other.
"Why do you need to go to the library? You can study at home, we gave you a laptop just last month." she frowns.
"I just needed to read some books." I pour myself a glass of orange juice and swallow it quickly.
Before my parents can say anything, I set the empty glass on the table and kiss them both on the cheek, running upstairs.
"Have a good day at work you guys!" I shout once I reach the top of the stairs and they say something but it was muffled.
I close my bedroom door and pull out my phone to text Noelle.
let's hang out sooooon
As I wait for her to reply, I do some homework and actually study Spanish. I didn't have an exam Monday but it didn't hurt to study to boost my grades.
Noelle finally answers another 30 minutes later.
was planning on going to the mall today, u should join me!
We plan to meet at the mall and I tell my parents that I'm leaving.
"Alright, don't stay out too late." my mom warned and I kissed her on the cheek before rushing out the door.
Eventually I arrive to the mall and meet Noelle at the food court like we discussed. I see her sitting down at a table by herself and I walk over.
"Hey, I thought you were gonna stand me up or something." she laughs before pulling me into a tight hug.
"Sorry, it's my first time here and I kinda got lost." I admit with a blush and she nods understandingly.
"Well I was need to get a dress and shoes, what about you?" Noelle asked me as we walked around.
"Not sure yet, I guess I'll just buy whatever I like." I tell her and we enter a dress shop.
My surroundings were filled with frilly, bright colored dresses.
"So, what do you need a dress for?" I ask as Noelle searches through the racks.
She pauses to glare at me with wide eyes, "Prom duh!"
I furrow my brows in confusion, "When's that?"
"About 2 weeks, I'm surprised that you haven't heard about prom at all. It's all people ever seem to talk about now." she sighs and I can't help but wonder who her date is.
Before I can think about what I'm saying I ask Noelle who she's going with.
Her cheeks tint a bright red and she bites her lip, "His name is Harry."
I smiled and felt more at ease knowing that she moved on from Calum. Although I've never met Harry, I already liked him because he seemed to distract Noelle and make her happy.
"Hopefully I can meet him." I tell her as we roam through the store in search of the perfect dress.
"So, has Luke not asked you yet?" she side glances at me while looking through various racks.
"Nope." I sigh.
Her eyes widen in surprise, "Are you serious?"
I nodded and she frowned, "I'm sure he'll ask you soon. It took Harry forever to ask me."
"How'd he ask you?" I couldn't help but wonder and her smile widens.
"Well-"
