"Are you sure about this Y/n? Shouldn't we wait another week?" Finn asked, standing outside the bathroom, cradling their one month old child in his arms, watching his wife through the mirror, as she applied some red color to her lips.
He was wearing an anxious expression, gently rocking their daughter, Aurora. Y/n smiled gently at the scene before turning towards them.
"We've already waited a month, I'm afraid Arthur will break into our house just to see her." She smiled, but Finn's face remained stoic. "Finn, it's your brothers! What's the worst that could happen?" She said, walking past him into their bedroom.
"I could name a few things." He answered. The afternoon sun shone in through the window, casting an orange hue over the room. The geranium standing on the windowsill had just began to bloom, the red flowers looking like they were on fire as light shone through them.
"I'd rather you not." She laughed, making just the tiniest smile brush over his lips. She sighed, walking towards her husband. "It'll be alright love, no need to worry." She said, pressing a soft kiss to his lips. He gently nodded, a smile spreading over his face.
But when they were standing outside The Garrison, his face wore the same anxious expression as before. Y/n looked at him, rolling her eyes slightly before walking through the door, leaving him with no choice but to follow, pushing the baby stroller in front of him.
The pub was rowdy per usual, but seemed to quiet down as they walked through the door. A couple 'congratulations' was told as they walked past, Y/n smiling at each person who spoke the word. They walked towards the small room where the Shelby's had their permanent reservation. She knocked gently before opening the door.
"Look who it is ey? Y/n Shelby!" Arthur embraced her in a tight hug, lifting her slightly from the ground.
"Oi! Put her down." Finn said from the doorway, struggling to get the baby stroller through the door. It got quiet, everyone watching Finn as he finally got through the door. Polly squeezed your hand, sending you a kind smile.
"Who do we have here?" John was the first one to approach Aurora, speaking carefully as he bent down. "Hello love." He said, smiling as she took a grip around his finger. "Can I lift her?" John looked at Finn, who nodded slightly.
Y/n could see that Finn was nervous, but John had children of his own, he knew how to handle them. She walked towards her husband, wrapping an comforting arm around his waist. John cradled his niece with such love that it brought tears to Y/n's eyes.
In that moment Y/n knew that Aurora and John would share a special bond. He smiled down at the small girl in his arms, watching her blue eyes open slightly.
"Hello darling." John spoke so gently, so quiet, as though Aurora was the most precious thing in the entire world. A small smile grew on the small girls face as she looked at her uncle. Tommy walked towards John, carefully taking the girl out of his arms.
It was strange seeing him so calm and gentle with something. Thomas Shelby, who seemed heartless to the people that didn't know him, held such warmth inside, gently swaying as he watched the child in his arms.
"She's beautiful." He said, looking at Finn, then Y/n, holding her gaze longer as he smiled. Tommy had always liked Y/n, almost seeing her as his daughter.
The day Finn had introduced her into the family she had been so kind and warm, caring about everyone around her, seemingly shining with kindness. He would never forget the day he stumbled into her on the street, a bullet buried into his shoulder.
Panic and fear flashed over her features, but it was soon replaced with calmness as she gently grabbed his arm, pulling him into her apartment. She pulled the bullet out, face not faltering as Tommy screamed in pain, determination, focus and a softness that he couldn't quite describe rested on her features.
Y/n had helped him that night, without asking any questions. Her mind only set on his wellbeing. That's when he began seeing her as a Shelby, family.
Y/n smiled at him as a small tear fell from her eye. It brought her such joy to see Tommy holding her child.
But then Arthur stepped forwards, making Finn noticeable stiffen. Thomas gently placed Aurora into her oldest uncles arms.
"Look at that, ey? A little Shelby." He softly spoke, surprising both her and Finn. He had never spoken so gently. But then he lifted her up, holding each hand under Aurora's armpits. He held her above his face, laughing loudly. "A proper Shelby." He shouted, making Y/n wince slightly. Finn stepped forward, taking his child away from his oldest brother.
"Alright, that's enough." He spoke, carefully laying Aurora to rest against his chest, placing one hand under her bum and the other over her tiny back. Y/n smiled and stroked the baby's head gently.
"A toast!" Arthur spoke up again, making everyone turn to him. He raised his glass, watching as everybody did the same. "To Aurora Shelby."
