Wings outstretched, she leaps onto wet tarmac;
Like an eagle marking out her territory.
Hovering over the lesser exotic birds;
Her eyes, mirroring ambition, claim the sky.
The migrating seasons straggle behind.
Autumn, brooding, transitions to Fall.
Change precipitates Winter's adolescence.
And Summer sleeps, dreaming, beneath first snow.
Arms reach out, pulling at a distant pale-yellow warmth.
Goose pimples turn into goose bumps.
Flags shiver in their worn-out coats and wave
To accented snowflakes spilling onto the ground.
