Apocalypse [Ellie Williams]

◜chapter thirty◞

The three where back on the road, Cassie was asleep within the five minutes of getting into the truck and getting back onto the main road. She woke up dazed and confused, her good dream interrupted when the car came to a stop and the gas switched off. Joe had gotten out of the truck (with his rifle) leaving the two girls inside alone

"where are we" Cassie yawned, leaning forward and resting her head on the side of the drivers seat so she could see her best friend

"no clue, i fell asleep" Ellie told the girl, turning her body slightly so she could watch Joel walk about as well as look at Cassie. The man came back a few moments later, getting back in the car after putting his gun in the back. Ellie had gotten hold of the map again, trying to locate them "where are we"

"Kansas city" Joel told the girl before turning to acknowledge Cassie who had her face pressed against his seat, her eyes closed and mouth open. She had fallen asleep again, they didn't necessarily need her to be awake for the drive but Joel didn't want ellie nattering his ear of the whole way so having Cassie awake would be beneficial to him so, he clapped loudly, right by her ear.

The girl shot up, literally. She jumped in her seat and smacked her head against the roof of the truck, groaning in pain as she held her head in her hands.

"what the fuck" Cassie yelled, reaching forward and flicking the mans ear before sitting back down, sulking. Joel then grabbed the map off of Ellie (after giving Cassie a glare) and pointed to their rough location.

"how far back do we have to go to get around this?" The brunette asked, the man ran his finger over the map plotting a way to go before letting out a sigh and slumping into his chair

"screw it" He spoke after a moment, handing Ellie the map and shutting the door

"what are you doing" Cassie questioned as Joel put the car in drive

"we can jog right around this tunnel, take the next ramp and were back on the road. Minute tops" Joel explained his plan, Cassie didn't get any of it just that he had a plan. The girl trusted him so she didn't comment on it, slumping against the window and watching the old vehicles pass by in a blur of colours. The two up the front where arguing about what direction they were going in when Ellie told the man to stop the car

"is that the QZ? where the fuck is FEDRA?"

"hey!" A shout of a man was heard from in front of them, his voice made all the people in the car turn to face it. Cassie peaking her head through the middle of the seats. He was yelling for help, clutching at his stomach.

"sit back and put your seatbelt on" Joel told the girls, Cassie did as told and the three put on their belts

"are we gonna help him?" Ellie asked, eyes wide

"no" Joel started the car, as Ellie looked at him in shock the man that needed help jumped to the side and a guy on a fire exit started shooting at them and even dropped a cinder block on the windshield. The two girls called out the mans name, both clearly in a shocked state. Joel kept driving ahead, and fast too, until they drove over a spoke trap and started swerving. They eventually crashed into a store front, the van going through the glass windows.
