I woke up to sunshine washing on me, I felt warm.
Happy.

And suddenly all memories of last night came to me as the spell of sleep washed off,
It felt surreal,
Too good to be true.

"Good morning"

I heard a voice I knew too well,
I turned around, wide eyes,
I took him in, bathed in sunshine, his eyes glowing.
I felt my heart swell with love, I wanted to kiss him again and again and forever.

"Morning" I whispered smiling widely

He was staring at the ceiling when I just woke up and now he is looking at me like I am some sacred star in the sky, I couldn't contain my happiness.
It seems he rolled off me at some point and slept on his back, while I subconsciously went back to curling around myself again facing the door.

"You didn't leave" I whispered

He furrowed his eyes, and smiled brushing a loose strand off my face,

"How could I" he whispered back and I couldn't help the blush threatening to spread across my face,
"And I thought I told you that I won't leave while you're asleep" he said

"Well, that was 6 months ago, maybe you changed your mind" I murmured

I moved closer and maybe that gave him the consent he needed to wrap his arms around me and pull me closer until I rested my head on his shoulder and his head on mine.

"How long have you been awake ?" I asked
"An hour" he rasped
"Why didn't you wake me up" I frowned
"I enjoyed listening to your heart while you sleep" he said
"Did you even sleep well?" I grumbled
"I had the best sleep ever," he whispered
"Had I known you'd be the cure to my restless nights, I would've sat for a quest to find you long ago" I chuckled and he smiled against my hair

I sighed in contentment

I tried to wriggle my way out of the entangled mess that we were but that only made his grip get tighter and pull me in closer.

"Geralt" I whined

"We are bound to get out of bed, you know" I grumbled and he grunted and pulled me in further if that was even possible.

"Geralt, I appreciate the effort but I don't think I would fit inside your rib cage if that's what you're trying to do" I mumbled close to his ear.

"Hmm, I can always try" he murmured

I moved my head to face him and he looked me in the eyes before he whined and sighed in defeat.
"Fine" he grumbled, before he started detangling himself.

We both sat down in silence for a moment before I finally got to my feet.

I looked in the mirror, oh boy.
My clothes were a mess from all his pulling and kissing,
My hair was also a mess, That's not just a mess.

"My hair looks like a bird's nest" I grumbled
"I would argue it's beautiful as always" he mumbled
"Liar" I whispered
"Oh really ?" he raised one eyebrow as he got up and took my comb.
"What are you-" I was cut off with a yelp when he suddenly carried me in one arm and walked back to the bed,

He sat behind me and started brushing my hair gently.
I didn't know Geralt was capable of such... Softness.
Then again, last night he was the softest I had ever seen him, or anyone at this point.

Whenever he felt he pulled a little too hard on a knot he would squeeze my hand and gently massage my head, and I just couldn't take such softness

"It's alright Geralt, It doesn't hurt" I mumbled half turning my head and smiling at him.
"It doesn't ?" he whispered and I just nodded
