THE SOUND HAD BEGUN softly. A gentle whirring of machinery, had crept itself into her ears and just never left. Instead of vacating her mind, it chose to nestle deep in the back of her mind. At first, it had been a simple inconvenience, something that had confused her.
The first time it had been heard, the first time the whirring had made its presence known had been mere minutes before the world had shifted on its axis and the plane she had boarded barely an hour prior, had crashed hard. Screams of agony replaced the sound. As the burning embers from the plane's engine had swelled around them all, each and every one shaking like a leaf while their adrenaline had begun to run rampant, —the sound had become but a distant memory for the young girl.
Though overtime, as the isolation took its toll and the wilderness began to play its tricks, the sound returned in full force. From a gentle buzzing in her brain to a full fledged pounding in her ears, the sound never ceased. Only when they finally got rescued, did the noise disappear but at that point the damaged had been done.
