The bar was left in shambles. Broken furniture lay scattered across the damp, wooden floor along with a tangle of twisted limbs and soundless bodies. But as the sun's morning light snuck in through the still-open back door, Y/N and Abbacchio knew that they had to leave.Their dancing came to a slow stop when the radio finally buzzed off after hours of playing the same seven songs on repeat. And even when the sunlit room fell silent, the two criminals still held each other. Abbacchio's chin rested softly against the top of Y/N's head. Her cheek was pressed to his warm chest and her hands remained around him, just as he remained around her. Neither of them opened their eyes once the music stopped. Instead, they let their soft breaths speak to one another as they stood in a comfortable embrace, still swaying to an invisible rhythm. It was only when Abbacchio felt his own heart quicken that he decided to pull away.
"We need to go," he said slowly letting go of Y/N. "It's almost morning."
"Okay Mr. Vampire, we can go." She replied stepping away from his warmth. In the seconds that she'd moved away, she had already grown cold.
"It wasn't a request, Rookie. And don't call me that." Abbacchio nodded his head toward the door and gently grabbed Y/N by the arm. "Come on, we're lucky that the cops don't patrol this area at night. They'll be here soon if we don't hurry." Stepping over bottles and bodies, the Brute started to the door in long strides.
Letting Abbacchio guide her away from the chaos of the bar, Y/N quickly asked, "But what about. . . This?" She pointed to the ruined room. If she wasn't too busy enjoying the deep, lustful smell of Abbacchio's cologne earlier on, she would've noticed that the space smelt terribly of body odour and blood. Disgusting. Suddenly, she wished she could embrace the Brute one more time. She already missed the way his cologne danced under her nose.
"The cops will find it," he explained, pulling Y/N away from the mess that they'd made. "Then they'll go searching in Passione's business for answers. And after that," Abbacchio huffed a dramatic sigh, "Bucciarati will pay the pigs to keep quiet." He propped open the sturdy back door with a single hand, still holding onto Y/N as he guided her out into the dimly lit alley where his car was still parked.
Pigs? She thought. Damn. She knew he wasn't a fan of the police — no gangster was — but pigs? Really? What a degrading title. He should consider a bit more creativity.
"Okay. . . Cool," She said trying to sound as casual as possible.
Cool air pushed Y/N's hair over her shoulders, tickling her senses out of their relaxed state and into something more alert. Her shoulders shook softly as more wind whistled down the side street, ignoring her body all the while. Y/N quickened her steps to match Abbacchio's pace. Finally, his hand relaxed, drifting away from her arm just as she marched fast enough to meet his strides. It took some work to keep at his side, his muscled legs strode at an unforgiving pace, and Y/N knew he wanted to get away from the bar as quickly as possible.
Glancing up, Y/N watched as the soft rays of light kissed Abbacchio's cheeks and nose. Based on how the light trickled over his skin, Y/N guessed that it was probably close to 5 a.m. As Y/N took in his features, his eyes didn't stray from the path ahead to meet her own, but she knew that he could see her watching. Bruises from weeks ago still lined his eyes in dark trails, blending seamlessly into the heavy bags that sat just above his cheekbones. His skin was fair, an elegant shade of porcelain that made it easy to see when he was blushing. And as the sun rose higher into the morning sky, Y/N watched as pink warmth blossomed over his cheeks.
"You like to stare a lot." It wasn't a question. More so an observation; one that the Brute had made so many times before.
"Can I not stare?" She asked softly as they approached Abbacchio's car. "I did just spend several hours of my life dancing with you, yuh know? I think staring is one of the more simple things you and I have done."
