Chapter 2☆ Just a mere weakling

After the whole disastrous fight, mario fled with the princess along with the rest of the people who joined in. Some injured, some left without a scratch.

Mario felt alittle anxious about leaving his brother behind but he'll be fine right? He said he'll come back. You just gotta trust him.

He shook off his built up anxiety, and continued to carry peach bridal style. half-way out of the forest into the kingdom, he put the princess down, making the princess worry alittle. "mario..?" she questioned. He looked at the direction he came, still alittle worried his brother may get hurt. Peach walked up to him and gently put her hand on his shoulder, "he'll come back"reassuring him. "i hope so.." mario said looking at peach while he put his hand on hers.

Speaking of the green bean; not shortly after, he came rushing through the woods, calling out to his brother barely catching his breath. "MARIO???!!" he said not looking back, nor caring for the hat he left behind. While mario was about to leave with peach, he heard a faint but loud voice. Each time luigi called out he seemed to get closer, adrenaline still rushing thoughout his body.

Luigi called out again, and this time with mario actually hearing how close he is. Mario ran near the forest entrance and called out to him. "LUIGI?!" his expression kinda in a worried state, still looking around for him. Luigi soon came out of the forest running towards his brother. "Mario!", "luigi!" they both exclaimed hugging. then they ended up running away from the forest, in to the rainbow, pastel colored mushroom kingdom.

As they arrived to the kingdom, most of the injured, gotten to the infirmary. while mario and luigi along with the princess carried on into her castle. Most of the donkey kong army returned back to their kingdom aswell hearing them cheer from the distance. The princess gave mario a mushroom, but she hesitated on giving luigi a mushroom. Staring at him first, then the mushroom then back at him. She had a worried expression held on her face. Luigi and mario looked at her confused. Then she spoke. "l-luigi i-.." she paused trying to gather her words to say to him. "this is only for you and you only.. W-whenever i give you a mushroom, its only for your aid."she gave him a strong look, him still feeling alittle anxious from what he did a few moments ago.
He knows he shouldnt worry for the king who tormented the mushroom kingdom for god know how long. But he couldn't help but feel bad for him, he didnt know why he felt that way though.  He snapped out of his thought and responded back to the princess with a hesitated nod. She gave him the mushroom and told her guards to escort them to their guest room.

Them sharing the room as the guards left, luigi went to sit on the side of the bed while mario stood by the window. mario couldn't help but look at luigi, furiously looking at him through the reflection of the window.

"so who's-a side are you on?.." mario questioned as luigi faced him confused. "what are you talking about?-" mario cut him off. "who's-a side are you on? Hm?" mario questioned him again while he sat there in silence.
"are you with us?, the people who love and-a care for you, and will-a protect you? Or the monster on the other side of where we are that'll do god-a knows what to anyone without mercy?!" he turned around still continuing to look at him. Luigi stood there in silence for a few seconds, sighed to relieve the rest of his adrenaline off and responded."i-.. Uh.. I dont know.." he said.
Mario looked at him still kinda furious but confused as to why he did such a thing. He knows how scared his brother was of his own mortal enemy and the enemies they had growing up.  But this was new.
He never thought luigi for one, would EVER help not just any enemy but bowser himself.
Luigi continued responding to his question, snapping him out of his own thoughts. "it- the way he looked on his face. It looked like he was really in pain-" mario stared in shock for a second, then yelled " he deserves it! He doesn't care for the pain he causes people, he probably making that face to trick you-" luigi but in. "t-trick me?! he may be a big huge-a scary lizard koopa, dragon t-thing, b-but an expression held on anyone's face like his, shows-a there was no trick behind it!" luigi yelled at mario.
Mario couldnt believe his ears. "there it is! The trick, he's just-a trying to fool you considering how small and- and emotional you are compared-a to me-" luigi got even more heated. "so is that what-a this is?! Thats-a what you think of me?.." luigi couldn't help but get up from where he was sitting. tears starting to form without him realizing.

Mario looked at him, his anger starting to calm abit. He hesitated at his words and almost spoke. Until his brother quickly left the room before he could say anything else. Mario sighed, replaying the argument he just had. He never had any arguement with his brother. He went to sit down on the bed, looking out the window as it started to get dark abit.
He sighed and looked at his hands. What has gotten into him?.. He questioned in his head. Meanwhile with luigi, Closing the door behind him he sat up against the door tears rolling down his face abit.
"small?.. Emotional?.. I-ill show you, you just-a think im not strong enough.." he said to himself looking at the ground. He soon got off the door and snuck away from their room. He checked every corner in every hall to see if there was any guards around.

He walked through some of the halls since there were no guards that were usually there. He flinched abit when he heard a chuckle and some laughter coming from a room. He peaked around the corner of a hall, as he seen most of the guards in one room. Guessing most were on a lunch break, assuming the princess order them to take a little break from time to time, he took this as an advantage to leave the castle.
Looking at the mushroom he still had, he never ate the whole thing. he just took a little piece from it to heal some parts of his body but not all the way to prove he was fine before going into the castle. Putting the mushroom back, he sprinted towards a window he saw open before he went up to his room, since he knew there'd be guards at the front gate. As he left from the window, he thought about something he may have left behind. His hat! But where is it?..
    Memories came crashing down as he realized he left it at the place he thought he'd never run to. But giving the circumstances of what problem he faced,  he didnt want to feel weak, everything was so overwhelming that it made him wonder into a tunnel entrance, with it quickly sucking him in. Now noticing He screamed, while trying to think of where he could possibly be heading.
