the night had started well, at least. the girls had gone to some club or bar and hopped to different ones, drinking and drinking. and drinking. cami knew she was somewhat of a lightweight, but the girls had urged her to have another cocktail, another glass of god knows what.

sometime throughout the night, cami had stepped away from the dance floor, telling madison and madelyn she would be right back. slumping on a stool at the bar, she shut her eyes and exhaled when she felt a presence next to her.

he told her he was here with his girlfriend, but offered to buy her a drink, and she was too hazy to realise she should've said no. cami told him she had to tell her friends, and once she left she didn't notice him slip something into her drink.

she came back, and they toasted. cami found herself having another drink that he bought, and even though she went back out to dance with madelyn and madison, she bumped into him again.

this time, it was different. he grabbed her wrist, and beckoned her to follow, but not giving her much of a choice; he led her somewhere she didn't know, and everything was unclear. she tried to focus into his eyes, and all she saw was anger and power; he pushed her against the wall and she felt utterly hopeless. out of control; he pushed her dress up and captured her lips, and it was so wrong, but he caught her punching and scratching hands, pinning them away.

tears flooded down cami's cheeks—too weak, too wasted and drugged to do anything more than take it with shame and pain. and there was pain, physically and emotionally; she begged him to stop, but nothing would work.

he was dominance and strength, and everything terrible; she was fright and guilt, and everything sad. how did the night turn to this?

the minutes blurred together and cami hurt, everywhere. he left her there, once he had finished with her. she wanted to throw up everything, rewind the night and take it all back. she barely found the strength to fix her dress straps and skirt, crying so hard that she could barely see.

she found her phone in her bag, texts and missed calls from maddie and madison flooding her lock screen. she pressed the first one and held her phone to her ear, trying to pull herself together.

"cami?"

she came undone once more at the sound of madison's voice, worried and kind and familiar and safe.

"where are you, hon—we're coming, just tell us where you are."

cami cried harder, barely getting the words "i'm not sure" out of her mouth. she pushed herself up, stumbling slightly.

"okay, well send us your location. kay, cami?"

cami nodded—as if madison could see—and opened messages, following her instructions.

"we'll be right there, cam."

she sniffled, her voice breaking slightly as she asked, "can you stay on the phone?"

on the other side of the phone, maddie and madison gave each other looks from their seats, already in the car on the way, obviously thinking the same thing—what happened?
