At first all I could see was horses. Thousands upon thousands of horses in a field together. Then I started to distinguish certain horses. First Autumn then Strawberry and Star and finally Hope.

Hope.

Hope.

Hope.

That was all I could think of. Was Hope OK. I think she was because she didn't seem hurt. She actually seemed perfectly fine. Suddenly I realised that I felt perfectly fine too which confused me. How could I be fine when I just feel off a horse and blacked out? Then it hit me, was I dead? I couldn't be dead. I hadn't been very badly injured had I? No I couldn't be dead, I was only thirteen, I still had many more years to live and more time with Hope. Wait if I was dead did that mean Hope was dead too? Please say no, Hope can't be dead can she, no, no, NNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Calm down I told myself. Deep breaths, in and out in and out. Everything was going to be fine. Hope was fine, I was fine. Everything was going to be fine. As I was telling myself this my vision started going blurry and then I couldn't see anything at all.

------------------------------------------------------

White. All I could see was white. Where was I? Then my vision started to clear and I started to make out of door, four walls and machines. Lots of machines. Then I saw a window and the end of a bed with white sheets on top of the bed. After a while I could see people. A man in white, a woman in blue, my Mum, my Dad and my little sister Sophie. Why where they al here, where was I?

"She's waking up!" the man cried.

"Dad?" I croaked, my throat dry.

"Yes Helena." my Dad said.

"Where am I?" I asked.

"Your in a hospital darling. When you feel off Hope you blacked out and were taken to hospital. You've been here for about 3 hours." Dad explained.

"What happened to Hope?" I asked panicking.

"Hope is fine Helena don't worry. I think she was a little startled when you fell of but she was led back to her stall and calmed down. She's not injured at all." Dad said.

"Excuse me but I need to check Helena now." the man in white butted in.

"Oh of course doctor." Dad said.

"Hello Helena, my name is Doctor Jim Coral. Now I just need to ask you a few questions. Do you feel sick?" Doctor Jim asked me.

I shook my head.

"Does your head hurt?"

I Shook my head.

It went on like this for about two minutes. When this was finished Doctor Jim checked my breathing, heart rate, pulse and head. He then explained that I had hit my head quite hard and that if I hadn't been wearing my helmet I would be seriously injured or even dead. He then explained that if I hadn't been wearing my body protector I would have seriously injured my back. Finally he said that I had a few bruises on my arms and legs and had hurt my head but apart from that I was fine.

" Now you don't seem do have concussion so you can be discharged. Now if you head starts to hurt, you feel sick or dizzy or if the injury on your head starts to swell up you come straight back to hospital OK?" Doctor Jim told me.

I nodded wanting to ask him an important question.

"Doctor Jim, when will I be able to ride?" I asked.

"If you don't have to come back into hospital I would say in a few days time." Doctor Jim said.

"OK. Thank you doctor." I said.

"Your welcome."

"Right Helena let's get you home." Dad said happily.

I smiled back.

"Yeh! Helena come back home, Helena come back home!" my 2 year old sister cried.

------------------------------------------------------

When I got back home I rang my friend Thea straight away.

"Helena! Your home! Are you alright?" Thea cried down the phone.

"Yes, I'm fine. I've just got home from the hospital. They discharged me saying I had to go straight back to hospital if I felt dizzy or sick, if my head injury swells up or if my head hurts. "I explained.

"Well hopefully that won't happen. So how long were you unconscious for?" Thea asked.

"About three hours according to my Dad. Anyway what happened after I fell?" I said.

"Well, Emily rushed over to you and started calling your name. When you didn't open your eyes or answer she shouted for help and for someone to call 999. Daisy ran into the ring and caught Hope. Hope was a bit shocked about what had happened and was acting a little bit skittish. When Daisy caught she calmed her down and led her back to her stall. She isn't injured don't worry. Then Becky ran into the ring from reception saying that she'd called the ambulance. About five minutes later the ambulance arrived and the paramedics checked you over, put you on a stretcher with a neck brace, put you into the ambulance and drove you away. Then Becky called your family explaining what had happened. By the time all that had happened we cooled down and brought the horses back to their stalls. So are you going to school tomorrow?" Thea said.

"Yeh, the doctor said I could as long as I'm careful. I think I'll be fine though as we don't have any stressful lessons. If we had Product Design that would be a different story." I said.

"Definitely. Though imagine Mr Long's face if he shouted at you and then your head started to hurt and you fainted! He would be so shocked he would never shout at any of us ever again!" Thea said.

"Maybe it's a shame we don't have Product Design tomorrow!" I laughed.

"Yeh. Sorry I've got to go, dinner time!" Thea said.

!"Bye Thea."

"Bye Helena."

I put down the phone smiling at Thea's story about Mr Long.
