I was running along the street, my heart pounding and my breathing heavy but I was not stopping. I had to get there. I had to ask him why he did it. I just had to. As I ran round the corner I started to slow down. Half way down the street was a tall building with huge glass windows. As I walked through the automatic doors I started to wonder if this was a good idea. I could just wait until my Dad got home and then ask him. I didn't have to come to where he worked and ask him why he sold home.

Just as I was considering turning round and walking home a lady came up to me. She was wearing a grey suit and high heel shoes. Her hair was scraped up into a bun and she had a sympathetic look on her face.

"Excuse me darling, are you lost?" the lady asked me.

"No, I would like to see David Brown please." I replied.

"Who are you exactly?"

"I'm Helena Brown, David Brown's daughter."

"I'm sorry but I'm going to have to ask you to leave. You can speak to your Dad when he gets home from work."

"Please, I really need to see him and talk to him about something. Something really important." I begged.

"OK, but if your Mr Brown is too busy to see you then I'm going to have to ask you to leave. Do you understand?" she asked.

I nodded, hoping my Dad wouldn't be too busy.

The lady walked up to the reception desk and rang Dad on her phone. After a few moments she put the phone down and faced me.

"Mr Brown will see you now. I will show you up to his office." the lady told me.

I followed the lady into a lift and stood in the lift as it went up and up and up. Once we had got to the right floor we both walked out of the door and down a corridor. When we reached the door to Dad's office the lady knocked. A second later my Dad replied saying:

"Come in."

The lady opened the door, waited until I was in the room before shutting the door behind me. My Dad looked up from his desk.

"Helena, Mary the receptionist rang me and said you wanted to talk to me about something important. What do you want to talk to me about?" Dad asked.

"Dad, why did you sell Hope?"

Dad sighed before answering.

"Helena you had better sit down while I explain."

I sat down wondering what Dad was going to say.

"Helena, I didn't sell Hope."

"What do you mean?" I asked, shocked.

"Your Mum went down to where I said you were taking you modelling classes and found out that you weren't taking modelling classes. She rang me when I was at work and demanded to know what had been going on. I couldn't think of a lie so I told her the true. She made me meet her at the stables and told me I had to sell Hope. When I bought Hope I guessed this would happen so I told the owners of the stables that if I ever told them I was selling Hope it was a lie to fool your Mum unless I said it wasn't. So when I went into the office with your Mum they just went along with the act and made it look like I had sold Hope."

I couldn't believe it. Hope hadn't been sold. There was still something I had to ask though.

"Mum said that Hope had been sold to someone at another stables. If she hasn't been sold, where is she?" I asked.

"I asked the people at the stables if they could move her into a different paddock until I told you what had happened."

It then sank in. Hope was still mine. Hope was still my horse. I couldn't believe it.

"Thank you Dad! Thank you so much!" I cried, jumping out of my seat and giving him a hug.

"That's alright darling. That's alright." Dad said, giving me a hug back.
