Sitting on the couch in the living room, Luz looked up from her phone as she heard some rather familiar sounds descending the stairs of the owl house, King did not seem to notice as he continued napping.

Sure enough, the owl beast was coming down, four steps at a time, head held high and trilling loudly. However, what caught Luz's attention is what she was carrying.

None other than Raine themself was being carried around by the scruff of their shirt, they sheepishly waved at Luz, and she waved back.

The owl beast stopped momentarily to survey the room, seemingly trying to decide if everything was in the right place. Raine remained in her vice grip but didn't seem fearful as they addressed Luz and King, "Hey kids," they paused as the owl beast briefly set them down to more thoroughly inspect the room, "It seems I'm being kidnapped." They said, bluntly, as she cooed and grabbed their shirt again, this time literally dragging them out of the house, "Don't forget to have dinner! There are leftovers in the fridge!" They called, already out the door and into the night.

Luz snickered, looking back at her phone. The owl beast had become much friendlier in recent years, it was always a treat when Eda let her come out. Even if the feathers were an absolute pain to pick up.

"Where are we going, dear?" Raine asked the owl beast as they crossed the front yard. Her only response was that she let go of their shirt, looking back at them to make sure they followed.

They trailed after her, slightly bittersweet over this whole experience. On one hand, they loved that Eda had grown and now trusted them enough to share about the curse, but on the other hand, they held deep grief for the years they had lost.

The owl beast picked up her speed, raising her wings slightly and changing gaits as she neared, what Raine assumed, was their destination.

The cliff overlooking the boiling sea is a staple of the owl house property. As intimidating as it is mesmerizing and covered in plush red grass.

Raine smiled as the owl beast layed on the grass with a satisfied huff, stretching and puffing up her feathers. She looked at them intensely and trilled, "Get over here," she seemed to say, and naturally, Raine couldn't resist.

They ambled their way over and sat down in the grass with her, sighing in contentment as she gently placed her head in their lap, "You sure are full of surprises," Raine told her as they began to stroke the particularly soft feathers near her face.

Sensing that they were going to be stuck for a while, Raine summoned their kalimba and began to pluck out one of their favorite human realm songs.

The owl beast cooed and looked up at them with big, glossy eyes, "She did always like music," Raine recalled dimly from their accidental meetings in the distant past.

The owl beast closed her eyes once more, resting a little bit more weight on top of Raine, "There you go," they encouraged, "You can relax, everything's okay."

Raine looked out over the boiling sea as the tune from their kalimba tapered off.

Everything will be okay.
