Today it's my first day at JST WRITINGS and I'm really excited. I've always wanted to work there ever since I was in high school. I just hope dad won't ruin this for me.
I took a quick shower and chose a red and black two piece suit with matching heels. "My glasses!" I screamed when I accidentally stepped on them. "Oh no! Now what am I gonna do?" I looked for another set of glasses and they are so ugly. I used to wear them at high school and I used to be bullied everyday because of them. "I guess I don't have a choice." If I want to see where I'm going I have no choice but to wear them. I wore these ugly glasses to my first day of work.
I got into the building and it was kind of cool. Everyone was minding their own business, they didn't even see these ugly glasses. "What are you wearing!?" Oh no spoke too soon. "I'm sorry Mr Johnson, my glasses broke and these were the only pair available, I'm sorry." I apologized and Mr Johnson just laughed.
"I'm not talking about the glasses I'm talking about the suit. You were supposed to come with the intern uniform. "Oh? Well where can I find it?" I asked embarrassed of my rambling. "Brandon is in charge of the uniform, so go left then right then right again. That's his office. Come to my wife's office to fetch your duty sheets." Mr Johnson stated. Wow! They weren't kidding when they said it is a family business. Okay. "Left then right....." I kept looking at the office deciding if I could knock or just budge in. No that would be rude, so I knocked. "Come in." Brandon said. "Uhmm... Hello. Your dad said I should come to you and collect my intern uniform." I said while standing at the door. "Oh hi. Nice to see you." Brandon said with a mischievous smile. "So... Your waist is 32 huh?" He asked looking at the trousers. I just nodded. He gave me the uniform and now I need to find Mrs Johnson's office. It was really easy to find the office because it was next to Mr Johnson's office. Before I could even knock I Heard my father's voice. "Why didn't you just reject her application!?" He shouted. I heard Mrs Clicking her tongue. "Listen here. I don't like the tone you're using and she had a lot of potential unlike other applicants." My lips twitched upwards into a smile. I knocked at the door before dad could continue his argument. "Oh Miss Craig, please sit down." Mrs Johnson said motioning to the seat in front of her. Dad rolled his eyes. "At least she's not using my surname." He mumbled but I heard him and I'm not gonna lie saying it didn't hurt cause it did.
"Here's your duty sheets for today. You'll be collecting the articles that the writers wrote and bring them to Lisa, our editor in chief." She said giving me a genuine smile. "Thank you." I said. "oh and Linda?" I stopped to look at her. "Don't let me down. There's a lot on the line." She said and I reassured her that I won't let her down. That's if dad doesn't get in the way. I pushed that thought far away and started my first day.
I don't know if it's just me but everyone is distancing themselves away from me. As if I have a virus or something contagious. Well, if it's not a coincidence there's only one reason. DAD. No could he.... No. He can't stoop that low. Can't he? Ugh! Lemme just concentrate on doing my work I'll worry about the rest later.
"Linda!" Dad shouted causing me to drop the pages I was holding. "Great first day of work and you're already making a mess of papers on the floor clean it up." He said rolling his eyes. But ... You .. This is his fault... Just when I thought it can't be any worse, he threw a jar full of beads and pens. "Organize these by their colours after that you'll organize them by their size." He said walking away. My eyes widened. What!
