while you slept peacefully, however, michael was restless. he couldn’t get you out of his head and he was so giddy. he was literally kicking his feet and smiling like an idiot at the thought of the events of the day. he glanced over at the time to see it wasn’t that late. it was actually awhile before the ‘bedtime’ william had given him. he didn’t even realize. he got up out of bed, stretched and tried to move around to get the energy out. when that didn’t work he sat at the foot of his bed, trying to figure what the hell he could do to get you out of his head. he just needed to get it all out.

and that’s how he found himself in his sister’s room, sitting at the foot of her bed. she already looked fed up just at the sight of him. she knew he had gone out with you and he hadn’t been able to shut up about you as of late. it was horribly annoying. today, however, he was more antsy than usual. something special must have happened. something huge. she was way too good at reading him.

“well c’mon, spit it out,” she said, laying on her bed with her stomach against the mattress and her feet in the air as she waited for him to speak. even if it was annoying, she was invested. she was curious to know everything about you. michael spoke about you like you put the stars in his sky. carefully placing each star to form the constellations and to light up the night.

he was quiet for a moment, trying to suppress a smile. “we went to the movies today,” he said, glancing over at elizabeth. she nodded slowly, silently encouraging him to continue. “a horrible movie, really. it was a cheesy romcom with the most basic storyline in the world,” he said, laughing softly.

“i know you didn’t come into my room just to tell me about the corny movie you saw,” she said with plenty of attitude as her brow quirked up. “just tell me about them. i know you want to,” she teased, moving a hand to poke his side.

he rolled his eyes and pushed her hand away before finally just getting to the point. “fine, fine. since you really wanna know that bad,” he teased back. even if she tried to deny it he knew she would be lying. it was annoying how much he talked about you but elizabeth loved to hear it. she hadn’t seen michael this happy in months.

with that, he spilled about everything. initially he started with just talking about what had happened at the theater but then he started spilling his feelings for you to her. he had been talking about you a lot but this was the first time he was actually saying how he felt about you. it started with a simple ‘i really like them’ and led to him telling elizabeth how he hadn’t been able to get you out of his head.

“i just can’t stop thinking about them. they’re always sneaking their way into my thoughts or they’re just lingering in the back of my mind. they’re always there somehow,” he paused, trying to think of something to compare this feeling to. “like hearing such beautiful music and not being able to get it out of your head. it’s sweet like honey and it leaves such a great impression on you. a melody that you’re just longing for. just dying to hear again. such a sweet and perfect melody.”

“a symphony,” she stated, tilting her head and awaiting his reaction. he turned to her, nodding slowly in agreement. he repeated the word to himself, liking the sound of it and the way it just rolled off his tongue. “with the way you talk about them it’s more than just a simple melody,” she said and chuckled.

michael sat in silence for a moment and accepted his feelings for you. he had been pushing them down and ignoring them since he had first met you. he didn’t believe in stupid things like ‘love at first sight’ but this could definitely compare. ever since you two had met, you just lit up his world. he ignored these feelings but now that he had said it out loud there was no way for him to hide it. he put it out into the world and now he wanted everyone to know. he wanted everyone to hear your sweet symphony.

after a moment of silence, he stood up straight and let out a sigh of relief. he was glad he was finally able to get it off his chest. he turned back to elizabeth and gave her a smile. “i’ll see you in the morning. goodnight kid,” he said and leaned over her bed for a moment. he pressed a kiss to her forehead before standing up straight and walking out of her room.

he had been talking to elizabeth for awhile so it was later now and michael could finally sleep peacefully. now that he had admitted to his feelings out loud he didn’t feel so restless. he slept like a rock, not waking up once until his alarm went off the next morning.
