"Why can't I hate you?"

Chapter 45

*flashback continues*

She ran into the main hall of the hotel, through which she got to the staircase that led her to the first floor, where Aina and Kuina's room was also located. As she walked up the stairs, she was passed by the members of the Executives, who were slowly and proudly moving towards the main hall.

However, no one noticed her. They passed by her by without blinking an eye.

Even though she didn't feel like meeting Kuina after keeping such an important matter from her, she decided to go back to the room. She didn't think that even Kuina would be capable of doing something like that.

With a deep breath and a sharp step, she decided to look towards the corridor where their shared room was located, but as she suddenly turned towards the corridor, she saw Kuina stop under the light of a lamp hanging from the ceiling.

She was only less than three meters away from her. She had a walkie-talkie in her hand and she had that furtive look on her face to mask her sadness.

She was disappointed in herself.

She wanted to tell her about it so many times, but was probably too selfish to do it. Aina gritted her teeth forcing her jaw to tighten.

Suddenly, a voice came from Kuina's walkie-talkie. It was Chishiya's voice that Aina heard coming out of it.

"Shall we?" Chishiya asked. Kuina looked around the corridor to make sure there was no one in the corridor who could betray them.

Exhaling loudly, she raised the walkie-talkie higher to her mouth and instead of answering, she said, "Aina isn't coming with us?"

Only silence was heard then. Not even a hint of a word came from either side of the walkie - talkie for a few seconds. Aina stared in disbelief into Kuina's brown eyes, full of sadness.

The Aina's were no better. She shook her head slightly and stared down at her white sneakers for a moment until Chishiya's voice finally came from the other end of the walkie - talkie.

"She left before I told her. But I assume she's there with you, am I right?"

"What should I know about again?! I wouldn't be surprised if you both want to get rid of me now. So, Kuina, what are you up to? What did you want or didn't want to tell me about?" Aina suddenly asked with anger in her voice, taking a few steps forward.

She stopped near Kuina, who dropped her gaze to the floor with her mouth agape, but after a short while she looked again into the face of her distressed friend.

"I know you probably think terrible things about me now, but I would never betray you, Aina! Would I ask him about you now?"

"Is he listening to us now?" Aina asked with tears in her eyes.

"No, it's off. Aina," Kuina began to speak again, her voice shaking slightly as she said her name, and she touched the shoulder of the girl standing across from her with her hand.

"We have to finish it. Now we have an opportunity."

"We had it before we betrayed Arisu and Usagi. If we hadn't, the cards could have been already ours." Aina dismissed Kuina's words.

Kuina sighed loudly, about to say something, but was interrupted by a voice from behind Aina.

"I made a mistake. I was wrong about Arisu." A voice spoke.
