Chapter 10: Zesty

As rapidly as I could, I gripped on her wrist bago pa man dumapo ang kamay niya sa pagmumukha ko.

"Professor, chill" I said as I gently massaged it. Alam kong medyo napahigpit ang hawak ko sa kanya kaya medyo namumula na yun.

"Did I command you to follow me here?" she scowled like a mad dog. She's mad mad pero hindi ko alam kung bakit..

I gradually freed her wrist at humakbang ng isa palapit sa kanya.

"Hindi nga pero kase galit ka ata?"

Muli, hindi niya sinagot ang tanong ko at tinalikuran ako. She directly went to her chair at kunwari'y nag-ayos ng mga gamit niya sa table.

I took that as my cue to invade inside and silently locked the door.

"I didn't know that you have a girlfriend. You should have informed me beforehand para iba na lang ang kinuha kong assistant" her cold voice felt like echoing through my ears.

Maingat akong lumapit sa table niya, I'm just being cautious dahil baka bigla na lang akong hagisan ng libro nito.

"And what's the connection of that to my job? Kasama rin ba sa contract na no relationship allowed?" tanong ko.

"It's included in the terms and conditions. I bet you didn't read the whole content, Ms. Constello?"

"Oh c'mon, ma'am. What's the correlation between the two? I don't think it could be a hinder to my task naman" I played like I was really irritated by the condition she was telling me yet I was laughing inwardly. Galit na galit siya at literal na gustong manakit.

"It is, Constello. Your focus to your task can be affected kung sakaling mag-away kayong dalawa and knowing that she's also a student here? Are you kidding me?" she's slowly losing her poise and temper yet still managed to abide the strong appeal she has.

Hindi ko na tuloy mapigilang hindi matawa sa naging reaksyon nito.

"The audacity to laugh at me?!" she suddenly slammed the table kaya agad akong napatahimik.

"Miss—"

"Leave"

"Teka lang kase, Miss Zera. Let me speak first.."

"I don't need you—"

"That woman? I honestly don't know her. She's just a coquette whom I encountered somewhere" mabilis kong paliwanag rito. Inaalala ko pa lang ang higad na yun ay kinikilabutan na agad ako.

Her features softened as she returned her gaze at me but fleetingly retreated it.

"I don't care, Constello. Lumabas ka"

"I won't unless papayagan mo kong ihatid ka ulit" pambawi ko na lang dahil three minutes late rin ako sa klase niya kanina.

"I have my car with me so no thanks"

"How about a friendly coffee date?"

"Ms. Constello" she warned in disbelieve at pinandilatan pa ako ng mga mata.

"Thou shall not invite your professor in a date" she resumed as though inviting her to have a coffee date is such a crime.

"Friendly date lang naman, pero kapag kay Kinsley" I murmured.

"What did you say?"

"Nothing"

"Ano na lang kaya.. meet the parents?" pahabol na asar ko.
