"Change".
I looked from his hand to his face and laughed. I couldn't help myself is he serious? I looked up at him and his face was like stone.
"Wait your serious".
I looked back to his hand which remained unmoved and grabbed it closing my eyes. I felt so much pain and anger I ripped my hand free before I could change and opened my eyes. he looked shocked and then angry before he stomped out of the room. I saw my reflection in the shiny part of his mask and nothing changed but my face. except it didn't look like his, his was burnt and deformed but mine was clean and young. who am I?

Some magical time later.

I changed back to my self thank goodness and now I'm looking for Paige, there is no way I'm staying here. I was down in some basement and let me tell you it's darker then hell down here. I originally wanted to get it over with and just call out her name but that would get me caught. So I'm reduced to searching everywhere on foot for EVER! I heard some sniffling and I turned the corner entering a huge room with cages galore. big, small, long, short, square or round they had it. I focused on finding Paige but what shocked me was most of them were empty so what was supposed to be in them? I followed the sniffling sound and found her way in the back bawling her eyes out.
"Whatcha crying about"?
I came up to the door and started unlocking it. she stood and ran over to me.
"Oh I tought I'd never see you again!
I smiled as the door came undone,
"Well you are unfortunately, come on we're getting out of this hell hole".
I grabbed her hand and ran back down the aisle of cages and came to a broken window. pushing the glass out of the way I cut myself but kept pushing and opened the window, we climbed out and ran for it. I could have sworn I heard foot steps behind us but we didn't stop for a while. I could tell Paige was getting out of breath and I was too so we stopped for a minute under a tree in the out skirts of New York.
"Do you think they followed us"? Paige was breathing so hard I could barely understand her, or may be that was my own breathing. I swear my heart was dancing in my ears for a good while,
"I think we lost them a while ago".
She nodded and fell to the ground spreading out like a starfish,
"Well I'm just gonna lay here for a bit".
I nodded and kept an eye out, she looked up,
"OH MY GOSH YOUR HAND IS BLEEDING"!
I looked down,"what? Oh, yeah I guess your right".
She stood up, "we need to get you to a hospital"! I laughed and she looked pissed.
"How is any of that funny"?
I bent down with my hands on my knees and laughed then stood back up,
"I don't think they'll like my race very much".
She looked down at me and smiled,
"I guess not".
We both were laughing so hard we didn't hear the approaching foot steps coming our way.
We heard someone crunching in the leaves not too far from us so we stopped laughing and I transformed into the boy so I would look less suspicious.
"Who's there"?
An old man came around the corner with a flashlight and we just stood there like deer in headlights.
"What are two young kids like yourselves doing out here so late your parents must be worried".
Paige stood infront of me,
"Sorry sir our dog ran this way and we were looking for him he's a big brown husky so if you see him he's ours oh and his name is sandy".
He nodded, "alright now you two go home now and stay safe there's a lot of creeps out at night".
We nodded and ran off and when we reached a dark ally I stopped and changed back when Paige stopped next to me I smacked her head.
"Sandy! Really that was the best you could come up with?!"!
She just rubber her head and shrugged and I looked around we were in a part of town I didn't recognize so I wanted to get a little higher to see where exactly we were.
"Let's get to the roof I think we can see where to go from there".
We started climbing the fire escapes and when we got to the roof it was strangely quiet.
