July 2, 1998

Waking up this morning I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness fluttering in my stomach. Today was my first official doctor's appointment, and Ginny and Hermione had kindly offered to accompany me. As we made our way to the clinic, the anticipation grew, and I couldn't help but wonder what awaited me.

Upon arriving at the clinic, we were greeted by a warm and friendly staff. The waiting room was filled with expectant mothers, their partners, and the occasional excited grandparent. As we settled in, I couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort knowing I had my two closest friends by my side.

Finally, the moment arrived, and my name was called. We walked into the examination room, and I perched nervously on the edge of the examination table. The doctor entered the room, her kind smile putting me at ease. She asked a series of questions about my health and how I had been feeling, ensuring that everything was progressing well.

Then came the moment I had been waiting for—the ultrasound. The technician entered the room, and I could sense her expertise and experience. She applied the cold gel to my belly and gently moved the ultrasound wand, searching for the first glimpse of my growing baby.

As the technician carefully maneuvered the wand, her expression changed. I noticed a hint of concern cross her face, and my heart skipped a beat. Panic began to rise within me as I exchanged worried glances with Ginny and Hermione. The silence in the room was deafening.

Finally, the technician spoke, her voice filled with reassurance, "Don't worry, Sofia. What I saw on the scan is not just one baby, but two!"

Ginny and Hermione gasped in surprise, and I was left speechless. A mixture of shock, joy, and disbelief washed over me, and I couldn't help but burst into laughter. It was an overwhelming moment, filled with an unexpected twist of fate.

The sorrowful realization that Draco wouldn't be able to join me on this incredible journey of parenthood washed over me like a crashing wave. A lump formed in my throat and tears began to stream down my face as I felt the bittersweet emotions overwhelm me. I allowed myself to cry freely, my heart aching with sadness.

Ginny and Hermione, always there when I needed them most, rushed to my side. They held me tightly, offering their support and understanding. Their presence reminded me that even though Draco wasn't physically here, I had an incredible support system that would be by my side throughout this journey.

As my laughter transformed into sobs, the technician gently explained that carrying twins was an extraordinary experience. She assured me that although it may be overwhelming at times, it would also be a double blessing filled with love, joy, and unforgettable moments.

With each passing moment, the initial shock began to fade, replaced by a newfound sense of wonder and gratitude. Yes, Draco wouldn't be physically present to witness this miraculous discovery, but I knew he would always be with me in spirit. I made a silent promise to share every milestone, every kick, and every heartbeat with him, knowing that he was watching over us.

Leaning on Ginny and Hermione's unwavering support, I wiped away my tears and took a deep breath. The road ahead may be challenging, but I was determined to embrace the journey of raising two beautiful souls. At that moment, I felt a deep sense of strength and resilience, knowing that love would guide us through.

As we left the examination room, I couldn't help but feel a renewed sense of hope and optimism. The news of expecting twins had turned my world upside down, but I knew that it was a true blessing. With each step I took, I embraced the knowledge that I was carrying not just one, but two precious lives within me—the embodiment of love and a reminder that even in the face of loss, life finds a way to surprise us with its beauty.
