SNOW DROPS ON LEAVES

The next day, Jennie woke up when someone has been knocking on the door. It's Winona.

"Good morning, Ms. Hale." Jennie greeted.

"Good morning, Jennie. Aren't you prepared yet for the task? Everyone is at the activity area already. We're all just waiting for you and Lisa so we can start." The counselor told her.

"Oh! Sorry. Oh shit! We're late. Wait. I'll just tell Lisa."

Jennie walked towards Lisa to wake her up. Lisa is not responding but still breathing. She held Lisa's jaw and felt her temperature.

"Lis? Lis, wake up. Let's prepare for the activity."

Lisa opened her eyes and really looked pale. Her lips are dry.

"Are you not feeling well? Oh my God! You have a fever." Jennie asked her.

Lisa lifted her body up.

"I feel weak." Lisa said in a low voice.

Ms. Hale approached them and noticed Lisa's foot.

"Oh my God! Is this what my staff told me about last night? I'll call the Doctor and wait for him here. I'll excuse both of you today in our activity. Lisa, your foot swells. How about you, Jennie? Let me see your face." Ms. Hale is worried. She immediately took her phone and talked to the Doctor.

Jennie looked at Lisa's foot and she was surprised.

"What happened to you?" Jennie asked Lisa.

"That's nothing. We can do the activity." Lisa is just trying to be strong.

"No. You both stay here. I'll let my staff send your food here too. You can join tonight's activity if you're feeling better already. For now, just do what's on the list." She said and the couple agreed.

After an hour, the Doctor arrived and treated Lisa's wound. Lisa took the medicine the Doctor provided. Ms. Hale's staff also monitored her temperature.

"It's normal having a fever because of your wound. Plus this swift change in temperature is really attacking our system. Just take the medicine again tonight. Why did you sleep here? It's freezing cold." The Doctor noticed her pillow on the couch.

"The room has an automatic warmer. You should be sleeping there tonight." The staff talked.

Lisa looked at Jennie and she nodded in agreement.

"May we request an extra mat?" Lisa asked the staff.

"Are you sleeping on the floor? It's not good for you. Even if the room has a warmer, the cold might get in your back and you'll still be sick longer." The Doctor added.

"No need for a mat." Jennie said.

They all left Lisa and Jennie inside the room. Their food arrived and they both settled on the table and started to eat. It was quiet.

Lisa took the glass of milk for Jennie and tasted it.

"It's sweet. Here. Take my tea." She really knows her wife. Jennie unintentionally blushed.

They took a bath after having their meal. They decided to do the activity at the back of the cabin where there's a veranda. What a great view having tall pine and eucalyptus trees while snowing.

Jennie returned Lisa's hoodie but Lisa insisted that Jennie must wear it.

"I still have sweaters with me in my bag." Lisa said and she insisted Jennie to wear it.
