"Stop wishing for forever
'cause nothing ever lasts.
If it's keeping you from sleeping,
wipe the tear from your eye.
'Cause sometimes it's time to let a good thing die." 🎶I woke up so early and I turned on this vintage radio of Mr. Anderson at the veranda downstairs. I didn't notice I have been crying while listening to Bruno Major's 'To Let a Good Thing Die' while having coffee. I waited for the sun to rise while feeling this pain in my chest. Yes, it still hurts. I am still missing Jennie each day. And what a coincidence that when I tuned in to the waves, her favorite artist was the first one to sing a song for me in the morning.
But I must go on. I have to continue life on my own. I have to live with my purpose of healing myself. I have to balance this pain with my willingness to work harder for my son. I am just thankful that there are people who are willing to help me. But of course, they have their own lives too and I shouldn't be a burden to them.
How blessed I am that Daniel offered this beautiful farm house to me. Just a two hour drive from New York city with the best view of greenery, cute alpacas, chickens and cows you'll hear in the morning, fishes swimming in the pond and horses waiting for you to talk to them. Mr. Anderson has really a good investment! His lot is wider than I first imagined it.
He told me to treat this as my home. He let me use the biggest and unused room upstairs. This white farm house is an old-fashioned structure but obviously well-maintained. It looks even magical at night with its yellow lights.
Aside from this house, there's another home beside where the caretakers live. They're a couple named Juan and Katrina with their young daughter Emily. Emily who is a super fan of Jennie and asked me when we first met if I am really Jennie's partner. She always wants me to tell her a story about my ex-wife. She promised me not to tell anyone about our secret. Emily is actually happy about Jennie and I but also sad to know that we drifted away from each other.
Since I came here four weeks ago, they never let me feel strange about this place. They are treating me like a family. I told them everything that happened to me and they always ask how I'm feeling since the day they knew my story. They also introduced me to other farm workers who live nearby and just come around when they have to work on the fruits and vegetables and others too to take care of the animals regularly. They all thought Dan is my father. Maybe that's what they told them.
Now, we are so busy constructing the farm-to-table restaurant. It has to be done in a month. It's just a simple country style food house with good music, coffee and food. Daniel made me conceptualized every thing from the exterior and interior design and even the look of the mats and plates we'll be using. He let me curate the menu. I don't know how I manage to work on this while I am still doing my graphic designing job as a freelancer online. Yes, I bought all the gadgets I need for work using the money that was given to me by Dan. I have to earn more for my son's needs and his future. Oh, I miss my Aki so much! Sometimes, I would just imagine his cries. The laugh he makes when I tickle him. And his beautiful smile.
"Good morning, Lisa. What do you want for breakfast?" Katrina asked while carrying this heavy basket of vegetables she harvested so early.
"Anything you want, Kat. Let me carry that." I said and took the initiative to help her.
"How are you this morning? Saw you at the veranda when I went to the fields." She asked while we're walking going to their house.
"Still the same. I am really disappointed of myself, Kat. I'm here to heal and move on but I couldn't stop thinking about her." I said as I placed the basket in the kitchen at the back of their house.
