I was released the next morning and I rode quickly home after I eventually got my bike released. When I got home jumped in the shower and showered off the rest of the prison from my body. I then decided to carry on my work tracking Lyle. That was all I had left. I got dressed in black jeans and a dark purple top. I tied my hair into I bun and grabbed a plain black cap from the dresser. Then I went downstairs to make tea and some toast. I thickly spread butter and jam on my toast and added two sweeteners to my tea. I watched the news as I ate. Nothing of me being in jail. That was a good sign. Just some politics and something about a guy that had been murdered. I left my used mug and plate by the dishwasher then went upstairs to brush my teeth. I pulled on my boots afterwards and then locked the house before jumping into the car. I turned on the radio to 'heart' and turned the volume down so I could just about hear it. I didn't want to just be thinking about the radio. It was just something to listen to in the background so it wasn't so silent. The seats were a lot comfier than the prison bed. Which was one hell of good thing. Then again, anything was more comfortable then prison bed. That was the point. They were meant to be uncomfortable. I knew that today the family would be in the park. For today was Lyle's special day. The day he turned twelve.

I arrived to see Maddie's car instantly. Today it was dark blue instead of her usual classic silver. I snapped some shots of the car and the number plate. I grabbed both of my bags out of the car. One contained my camera and the lenses the other had two sandwiches and two packets of crisps as well as several bottles of water, all of which I had brought on the way here at ASDA. I found them all pretty quickly. They were in the 'no dogs' area of the park.
I couldn't help but think, So why is Maddie in there?
I smiled at my joke. I walked around into the wooded area to get into the field that was I could hide without being seen. I would move positions every couple of hours so I was never in the same place twice. Less suspicious that way. I pulled out my camera and put the zoom lens on. I took pictures of Jonas first. He had just put on a pair of jeans and a plain navy short sleeve top. Then I snapped some shots of Maddie who was dressed to impress, as usual. She wore black suit trousers and a white top. The jacket was slug over the bag, which I assumed, contained the food. Plus finally Lyle. He wore jeans and a casual yet smart shirt. He looked so grown up just like Kyle. Same hairstyle. Same facial shape. Same way he never tucked in shirts. Same silver necklace. It looked exactly like Kyle's. I would know because I brought that for Kyle for his eighteenth birthday. I shook my head. No. It was similar not the same. Kyle was buried with it. I made absolute sure of that. That was the one object I wanted him to have with him forever. I didn't believe in God or religion or any of that. It was nonsense. But if there was such thing as an after life I wanted Kyle to have something to remind him of me. As for the dreams I was having. Well they were just my imagination wanting my love back. Lyle and Jonas were now play football.
"Jonas your getting old!" I heard Maddie yell.
"YEAH DAD! Come on!" Lyle teased.
It really broke my heart to hear Lyle calling Jonas 'dad.' If only he knew what happened to his real dad. Who he really was and what he meant to me. Lyle looked so much like Kyle that it was unbearable. If I had kept Lyle I would have found everyday torture and a reminder that it was my fault that Kyle was dead. Which ultimately it was. It had been my mission but I asked Kyle to go instead because I was feeling really tired what with looking after Lyle. I hadn't had a mum that cared enough to show me how. Kyle's mum, Julia, was excellent though. Both her and Kyle's dad, Eric, were only a phone call away if we needed them.

They often came over to help look after Lyle. He always smiled and laughed when they did. His little face would giggle and he would squirm to get over to them to hug them. To him they were probably like a second set of parents (the ones that knew what to do and how to look after a baby). They were like the parents that I never had but had always wanted. I can remember I called up my mother-in-law one night, when we lived with them while Kyle and I were doing work on our own, and admitted that I didn't know how to bath Lyle. She instantly got out all the necessary products and showed me how to bath him. She didn't care that her favourite top was soaked she was just loving having a grandchild. She often complained that we made her feel and look old but the simple truth was she enjoyed looking after a baby again. Julia was, and still is, a very loving and mothering woman. I could also remember the first time we told her that we were getting together. She insisted on taking me shopping as she had been waited all her adult life to take her daughter shopping but instead she got sons. I could also remember a time in the car on the way back from a day out with Lyle her top got completely ruined because Lyle started throwing around his baby food. She didn't care at all, she just laughed it off. The top was brand new but she still didn't care. I offered to buy her a new on but she wouldn't hear it.
