I met up with Kirk at a coffee shop that was near the office. We sat down, ordered our drinks and I waited in awkward silence for him to say something. Dude, I don't have all day. Say something!

"Ok Sam, please explain to me what happened because I'm really confused about everything." I sighed deeply, took a sip of my coffee and began to talk.

"Kirk what do you want to know first?"

"Who are you in love with and since when?" I smiled at the memory of Mon saying yes to being my girlfriend. I cleared my throat once I saw Kirk watching me.

"Ok so I don't know exactly when I fell in love with them. It might have happened as soon as we found each other a couple of months ago or it might have happened when I started to realize that they were making me a better person just by being beside me."

"Umm ok... And who is it?" I thought about telling him, but not yet. Not until Mon is ready.

"I won't say who it is yet out of respect for them, but hopefully soon I can tell the world all about our story." I took another sip of my coffee and a bite of my carrot cake.

"Wait! Is it someone from work or did you meet him at a party with your friends or something? Never mind. I know it couldn't be someone from work because you enforced the no dating rule so how did you two meet??" If only he knew...

"Actually, we met years ago when we were in school but didn't cross paths again until recently."

"Umm ok..." He scratched his head. "That still doesn't explain things for me. We were fine. We had an agreement. We are going to get married. Lady Grandmother said so."

"Kirk, I know how you feel about me, but forcing me to marry you is not going to make me fall in love with you or fall out of love with my partner." He looked down at his hands. "About my grandmother, if she's not willing to accept my happiness and she wants me to choose between them, I will choose my partner."

"W-wait! You would leave your grandmother alone for this...this person you barely even know?! Someone who isn't family."

"First of all, I hate to break it to you, but that person is more like family to me than you are. Yeah, we've known each other for years. Yes, we are business partners, but you've been in the friend zone since we've met, and I never had any plans to move you away from there." His mouth fell open. "What did you think, that after we got married, I would give myself to you in body and mind, that you would be my first everything? No, Kirk. That was never happening." I grabbed my cup and took another sip. "You want to know what our marriage would look like? Exactly like this. You in your house, me in my house. If my grandmother wanted great grandchildren? We could have adopted or artificial insemination. The most that you would have received were a few forced kisses here and there for the public's sake, but that's it."

"You don't have to be so harsh and cruel, Sam."

"I probably don't but I need you to get it through your head that no matter what happens from now on even if I am forced to marry you, even if I can't leave my grandmother alone as I just said, your life will never be happy with me either. I need you to know that all those fantasies that you have made up in your head are never going to happen." My phone started to ring. I smiled at the caller's name. "I've got to take this call so I'll see you later Kirk. If you need some time to come back to work just let HR know. I won't force you into an awkward situation unlike you did with me." I answered the phone. "Hey you! Are you on your way to work? We need to talk." I left Kirk's side and walked towards the office. I heard a crash and glasses falling onto the floor breaking, but I didn't look back. Not my problem anymore.

"Good morning, Lady Sam. What was that?"

"Oh, nothing just a kid doing a tantrum at a coffee shop. Anyway, are you almost at the office?"

"Why don't you look straight ahead?" I smiled once my eyes met hers. I didn't care that people were seeing me run, I didn't care that they were watching me hug Mon, right now all I needed was this. "Lady Sam! People can see us." She pushed me away.

I grabbed her hand and led her upstairs to my office. I closed the door behind us and locked it. I grabbed my phone and messaged Yha that Mon and I would be in a Zoom meeting with some investors and shouldn't be bothered at all. I breathed out.

"I know that we need to talk, I do, but I miss you so much it hurts. Can we just ignore the horrible moment that we went through last night for just a few minutes?" I hugged her tightly inhaling her scent. "I love you, baby. The only thing that I want to do is care, love and protect you for the rest of our lives." Mon smiled and I kissed her deeply once more.

I don't need anything else, just your love, Mon.
