Blue Butterflies

Blue butterflies and silent cries.

Tears locked behind sorrow filled eyes.

No tears, you're not permitted to cry.

Smiling, you go about your day.

Pain shouts inside your mind.

You play the part so well.

Inside you hide a broken heart.

Blue butterflies and silent cries.

Emotions shut off, your mind an empty shell.

The familiar drill, day after day.

Your mouth closed, feelings and emotions shrouded.

Happiness, clouded and gone.

Blue butterflies and silent cries.

Dull eyes and a pasted on smile.

After a while it comes with ease.

To fool and please those that scrutinize.

tragedy pools under your skin,
drowning from deep within.

Your soul, just an echo of unheard screams.

Beautiful on the outside it seems, dead within.

If only it were a mere dream.

Blue butterflies and silent cries.
